Meet Brandii Niles of Seasons Hospice & Palliative Care

Today we’d like to introduce you to Brandii Niles.

Brandii, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
Seasons Hospice & Palliative Care of Texas- Houston was licensed and accredited by The Joint Commission in the Fall of 2012.

However, we are a national hospice and palliative care provider. Our company was founded in 1997 in Illinois and twenty years later, we are now the 5th largest hospice company in the nation, operating in 19 states. We carefully select each market where we decide to provide care; we want to make sure there is a need for our service and that we will have the ability to increase awareness about hospice within the community. We take pride in implementing our vision, which we believe is what makes our company unique.

Our Vision is to:

-recognize that individuals and families are the true experts in their own care;
-support our staff so they can put our patients and families first;
-find creative solutions which add quality to life;
-strive for excellence beyond accepted standards;
-increase the community’s awareness of hospice as part of the continuum of care.

And you will see this exercised every day in the actions of all of our staff here in Houston.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Like all businesses, we’ve found that when you’re establishing a new location, there are growing pains and occasional bumps in the road, but we are always prepared. We have struggled periodically with growth and geography as Houston and the surrounding areas can sometimes be difficult to navigate. That being said, we very quickly assessed the issue, always keeping in mind our commitment to being responsive to our patients and families. We found a solution: we decide to redefine our service area, and found success in that.

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Seasons Hospice & Palliative Care – what should we know?
Our company provides hospice and palliative care to patients and their families. We serve them in their homes or in the facilities in which they live. We pride ourselves on meeting our patients where they are in their journey, and forming a plan of care with them based on expert medical advice together with their wants and needs. That’s something that sets us apart- we believe our patients and families are the experts in their care, so our staff works to find creative solutions to add quality to the end of their lives- on their terms. Also, our staff is literally available 24/7. No matter the day or time, our patients can call our call center, staffed by nurses, to immediately get assistance.

Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
Our entire team deserves credit. You simply cannot provide hospice and palliative care unless you have a team that works seamlessly together. We call it an interdisciplinary group: it includes all people providing care for a patient, from their doctor, nurses, hospices aides, chaplains, music therapists, social workers, etc.

But in addition to that, we have fabulous hospice care consultants, administrative staff, call center staff, business development staff. The list goes on. One person is not more important than other; we celebrate the wonderful talents that each person who works at Seasons Hospice & Palliative Care brings to the table and offers to our patients and their families.
