Meet Brandon and Callie Kuehler of Light It Right in West

Today we’d like to introduce you to Brandon and Callie Kuehler.

In 2004, 2 weeks before graduating from Texas Tech University the job Brandon had fallen through and he was in need of a new career choice. Since he had done lighting before during the holiday season and as a summer job Brandon decided to go into business for himself and started Light It Right. Over the past 13 years, Brandon has grown Light It Right from his room at his parent’s house to being the premier Architectural and Landscape Lighting Design and Installation company in the greater Houston area.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Getting where we are now has not been the easiest, we have dealt with employee theft, turnover, economic townturns, and installs that went wrong. However through all of that we have learned from them and turned them into positives.

Light It Right – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
We are the premier Architectural and Landscape Lighting company in the greater Houston area. We provided custom lighting designs to our customers based on the architecture of their home and their landscape design – we do not sell lighting packages that are either not enough or too little, we ensure the perfect design for your home and your preference.

Brandon is 1 of 2 Certified Outdoor Lighting Designers in the State of Texas as well as a Certified Low Voltage Lighting Technician.

Callie is a graduate of the Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Business Program.

What is “success” or “successful” for you?
We define success by ensuring our customers are happy – if they are not happy then we did not do something right for them and we need to correct it. We see our customers as family and we want to give them only the best and for them to have the best experience possible – so we do all we can to ensure that happens.

From a business stand point we have goals that we aim to hit, if we hit or go over that goal for the month/year than we are successful in our mind. Those goals to change year over year so we aim higher each year. If we miss a goal one month we try to make up for it the next. We also look at economic conditions and determine if those affected how we hit or miss a goal that month or year.
