Today we’d like to introduce you to Brian Benoit.
Corazon coffee, began in the Fall of 2018, inspired by the coffee culture in San Antonio, Brian Benoit, owner and founder had the idea for Corazon after visiting several mobile coffee setups there, while traveling for work. Carrying off the momentum of the food truck popularity and the lack of mobile coffee options at the time. Corazon started off as a purchased 1963 Shasta travel trailer, that was spotted on Austin’s Craigslist. Offered by the Community First organization, that provides housing for the chronically homeless in the Austin area. After purchasing, Brian began to strip the trailer on the inside, then had Mike Solis of Modernized Designs, do all the interior build-out. Corazon coffee launched in March of 2019 and primarily has focused on Farmer’s markets and private events in the Houston area. One of the special features of the trailer are, fully functioning Kegerators, equipped to serve Nitro coffee and tea drinks. This is a feature rarely seen on a mobile setup.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
The experience of learning how to make and create drinks has been very enjoyable. Visiting with customers and serving them drinks has definitely been the best part of the experience. The only setbacks I’ve experienced are some mechanical issues with the trailer. This is expected from a 56 years old trailer.
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Corazon Coffee – what should we know?
Corazon Coffee is a mobile coffee shop. We serve all coffee drinks, including drip, espresso-based, cold brew and nitro drinks. We have provided an incredible menu, backed by a very personable experience. Being based in a 1963 Shasta trailer, that looks very unique, gives us instant recognizably as a brand.
Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
My biggest support has come from Kyle Lopez at Merit coffee. We have always wanted to use and sell Merit from the trailer and Kyle and the merit team have been tremendous support for us.
