Today we’d like to introduce you to Carolina N. Dalmas.
Carolina, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I was born and raised in Argentina, and have been living in the USA since 2004.
My mom sent me to my first art lesson when I was 7, I attended an Art Academy for 10 years as growing up, since then I’ve been enjoying art as a nonstop journey.
I have my best memories from those early classes. My teacher was a nun and I was attending classes with my best friend. I remember going to the nunnery classrooms that were very cold during winter but were always a very fun and relaxed environment with hour-long classes. I have memories of preparing my portfolio at the end of every school year to be presented to the examination teachers. As a final exam, they placed a still life in from of me and let me know what medium they wanted me to use to render it in a couple of hours.
When the time came to go to college I took a scientific path, I have a Biochemistry degree, a post-graduate degree in Medical Analysis and other in Food Science. At the same time, I was attending ateliers, painting and get involved in art when I had the chance.
When I moved to America, it was a big change for me and I found an opportunity to go back to art, something familiar and comforting.
I decided to launch “Artistically Painted & Designed” after some friends started asking me to do some decorative painting and murals and saw what excellent reaction I received for my work.
Alright – so let’s talk more about your work. Tell us about Artistically Carolina – what should we know?
I’ve been providing an array of artistic services from art classes for adults & kids, residential & commercial murals, painting children spaces, hand-painted furniture, art on canvas, pastels and ornamental designs. Now, I am focusing on fine art painting, concentrating on acrylic/oil on canvas, pastel and of course teaching classes.
I love to teach art, I always start my classes saying: “Art is a discovery a way of looking to the world as though you are looking it for the first time.” My favorite reward of teaching is when my adult students tell me that they are seeing things and appreciating them differently. In my opinion, that helps us to have a better connection with the world. Learning to see and observe is essential to learn to draw and paint, and that may also translate to others facets in our life, like helping us see and solve problems or situations in different and more creative ways.
My favorite subjects are flowers and nature in addition to the human body. The Inspiration for my works comes from nature, especially by the incredible world of flowers. I think that the elements of design are best depicted by nature through flowers. They show us a great variety of shapes, textures, tones and amazing colors.
In addition, I enjoy drawing and painting the human figure, including people doing spontaneous daily activities. I am also amazed by different and unique cultures and architectures, which I like to capture in my art work. Acrylic and pastels are my favorite mediums, I like the freshness of pastels, it helps to keep my work light and simple.

I am always eager to collaborate and donate my time like teaching art classes at Star of Hope to children or donating my artwork for good causes like Habitat for Humanity, Interfaith, Woodlands Art League, Kilpatrick Elementary School, Project Pink, Hope under the Stars and St Jude’s. This is very rewarding, that through doing what I love to do the most, I can help these great programs.
Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
Always thriving give in my work the best I can give.
Taking classes and workshops with artists that I admire helps me to grow, grasping from them a few things to be incorporated into my work. Being around other artists is always inspiring and helps me be a better artist, like being a member of Art Leagues or Pastel Society, PSST.
Every piece of art I do is unique, from a canvas to a mural. When I am meeting my murals’ client for the fist time, his/her wall is a big white canvas.
When I design a mural, I like to incorporate elements in the room with its colors and lines. Also leaving the original wall color picking thought the mural helps with the flow and create a rhythm where every element even the mural is part of a whole.
I love the process of creating the mural. From listening to my client’s vision of the project, to going back to my studio, doing some research and coming up with a design. Is always so exiting seeing all their expectation while the project is unfolding and their enjoyment when is done and the vision come true, is very gratifying.
Also, my way of teaching is different, I do not instruct a specific technique. Even in group classes, I teach individually to each student based on their level, subject matter and medium of interest. I guide in them use of the elements the of design (color, line, value, texture) and principles of Design to make better artwork. Since art has a strong connection with our inner soul and experiences, every one of us has a unique finger print or brushstroke to express our self and materialize it on our work.
