Today we’d like to introduce you to Chari Twitty-Hawkins.
Chari, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
My journey of becoming an entrepreneur started shortly after I gave birth to my beautiful twins in 2010 and was laid off from my job. While being in what I call ‘mom zombie mode’; balancing breastfeeding, making bottles, changing diapers and trying to get some sleep in between. I longed for more for myself as a woman. I prayed and asked God what should I do. I came upon this handmade site, etsy.com. After browsing, I had the idea to create jewelry but with inspirational meaning. I made a few pieces and give them to my friends. They told me, girl, you need to sell this! Thus, started ChariT’s Inspirational Creations!
After about five years, I felt a calling from God to do more. Again, I began to pray and God revealed to me that there were some talents that I had stopped using since becoming a mom. I then began to write again and published my first book, Living Your God Inspired Purpose. I began to write poetry as well and performed a piece at the Revive Conference here in Houston to women encouraging them to live their purpose.
Since then, God has placed it on my heart to speak to and help moms who aren’t living their purpose or need encouragement to do so. Many of us are putting our husbands and children first but neglecting the purpose that God has for our lives as women of God. I help moms through online courses, 1 on 1 coaching, public speaking and soon to come local events and books catered to moms!
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
No, it has not been a smooth road. It has been challenging being a work at home mom. When my children were home with me, I had to find a way to balance being present as a mom, as well as working on my business. One of the biggest struggles that I have had is a limited mindset as far as the money that I can make and how much my business can grow. I have found this is true especially amongst women entrepreneurs.
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about ChariT’s Inspirational Creations – what should we know?
I have a passion for helping moms rediscover the woman within, overcome negative generational beliefs so that she can flourish in faith, family, and purpose! I am proud of assisting moms in learning to love themselves, make themselves a priority, and become better moms in the process!
Through life and business coaching, I help moms become better women, live their purpose as women of God, and live a life of joy! Rather than only focusing on becoming a better parent, I focus on the total woman! Because we are more than just moms!
I also create scripture based on inspirational jewelry and accessories for women and men.
Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
I believe a mindset of faith in God and self is most important. When I have a mindset of confidence rather than doubt, that’s when things really happen because I know that I was created with a purpose to help others and it is my job to live it out!
