Today we’d like to introduce you to Colin Taylor.
Colin, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
Too Crew started from and my friend/ roommate customizing shoes in our dorm room my freshman year in college. I went strong with the shoe customizations for about a year and decided to use a saying my longtime friends/brothers and I used to say all the time which was “Too Crew”. Honestly I really wanted something we could wear the let people know about the crew. One day I decided to go to the mall and I picked up a black baseball cap and a black pair of sk8 hi vans and painted Too Crew all over them. I see how people reacted towards them so I took my last $200 and decided to get about 15 of them made just to see if how they would sell and if I was capable of producing something that people would actually wear that wasn’t just shoes. The hats sold good they sold out in a little under two weeks.
Around that same time another friend of mine, Jarrod was just trying to start his business up which is now “Unbranched Apparel”. We both had the same ideas and vision for ourselves running through our heads. I took a few months but I talked to him and decided to link up and make Too Crew apart of Unbranched Apparel. Probably one of the best decisions I’ve made.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
They have been pretty good, there’s times where I’d be sold out and there’s often times where I’ll be fully stocked with items.
I’m a double major in Architecture and Construction Science at Prairie View A&M University, with that being said the hardest challenges for me are trying to focus on Too Crew and still get my school work done.
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Too Crew by Unbranched Apparel – what should we know?
Currently, I’m working on expanding the Too Crew brand, I’m also a photographer and Graphic Artist so coming in 2018 this brand will have a lot more to offer than just Hats and Tees.
Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
My creativity is the most Important to my success but most of all without the good lord up above I wouldn’t be able to do any of these things I’m doing right now. Also my family and friends on both my mom and my dad’s sides always offer so much love and support. From my closest friends to my Crew brothers and the Unbranched Management team and everyone who has supported the movement. It’s too many names to put in here but they all know who they are I just wanna thank all of them for being by my side.
