Meet Daniel Holden and Gretchen Holden of Mr Pumper Sewer Service

Today we’d like to introduce you to Daniel and Gretchen Holden.

Gretchen’s family has been in the sewer business for generations. After they married, Daniel started working at Gretchen’s parent’s sewer company and started learning the business. Several years later, they had the opportunity to buy the equipment and start their own business. That was at the end of 2009…it’s 2017 and they’re still truckin’!

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Owning your own business is never a smooth road….when equipment breaks down it not only takes money to fix it, with us initially only having one truck, it took time away from work to make money. And you have no one to depend on to give you a paycheck, you have to go out and find the work and get it done yourself. It’s stressful and there are new things to learn all the time, with advertising, how to get our name out there, how to get people to call….you can’t just start a company and expect people to know you’re there, you have to push yourself every day.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Mr Pumper Sewer Service – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
We’re a mom and pop septic company, husband and wife team. Daniel runs the truck and Gretchen does the scheduling, paperwork, answers the phones. We pump septic tanks and aerobic systems, do residential and commercial work. We have a big beautiful truck that is Daniel’s baby and we definitely do the best job at the most affordable prices. I have so many of our customers tell us how happy they are with our service and how thorough and personable Daniel is. We strive to keep our customers happy and it definitely shows in our work!

So, what’s next? Any big plans?
We plan to continue to offer great service at great prices! We initially started out in the Huffman, TX area but have recently re-located to Onalaska, TX and have expanded to service this and surrounding areas as well. We now have two trucks, but with only one person to operate the trucks, we’re still a one truck company. Hopefully, in the near future we’ll have built up enough around here we’ll have to hire someone to run the other truck.
