Meet Danielle Suggs of MVO Resources in Katy

Today we’d like to introduce you to Danielle Suggs.

Danielle, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
How do you sit down and just tell your story – a deep personal experience you feel more than you can put it into words?!?! Well, here goes!

In 2014 I was on the brink of death. I had separated from my then husband, and my kids were living with my mother. I was an addict of many things, but the worst being opioids. I lived to drug, and I drugged to live. Every day was the same. I’d wake up, look for drugs. find the drugs, look for money, find the money, buy the drugs, use the drugs, and pass out. All of this just to wake up the next day and do the same thing all over again.

I was drugging to keep my sanity, yet it made me lose it all at the same time. I didn’t want to feel anymore. I didn’t want to remember the pain of walking in on my daughter at 2 1/2 months and seeing her blue from head to toe. The pain of the memories of her in the hospital and rehab and then to know she may never walk, talk, or function like a typical person – well, it was just too much.

I had my last overdose in June of 2014. The doctors said had I not been taken to the ER when I had, I wouldn’t have survived. You would think the first two overdoses were enough! They weren’t – it took that third one. And it wasn’t the doctor scaring me, it was walking out of that ER to nothing. No friends, no family, no money, nothing. I was going to sleep on the hospital bench that night had someone not given me a couch to sleep on.

I checked into treatment not long after that night. I made it through one week of detox and then relocated to Houston to live in sober living. And that’s where I started my new life. I rebuilt everything I had previously, discovered a man that absolutely adores me (Jacob who is the COO & Co-Founder of MVO), and I got my kids back.

I started in the self-employment market, then established a small virtual accounting firm. I used that firm as a launchpad. I got to test out different systems, processes, methods, etc. I saw what worked and what didn’t work. I discovered my love for working with law firms and those in the legal profession, which I quickly made my niche.

In August of 2017, I decided to re-brand and really get my business off the ground. Jacob and I launched MVO Resources as a virtual office solution for law firms. We have had nothing but success from the start and we are so excited to continue growing with law firms around the country!

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I was lucky enough to have worked out most kinks in my previous business. It was a definite trial and error business that allowed us to have a smoother road this time around. I’d say the biggest struggle is staff and project management. We are constantly having to analyze the work that is being done, versus man-hours available, versus projects that are due. It’s a juggling act, but that’s what makes it all so fun!

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about MVO Resources – what should we know?
We provide virtual back office solutions to law firms. Ultimately, anything a law firm would hire an internal staff member to do, they can outsource to our company. We offer financial services, human resource management, marketing and front office/paralegal assistants.

One of our biggest specialties is trust accounting. We know how to manage the trust accounts and how to account for them in a multitude of systems.

What I am most proud of and what sets us apart from others are both the same. We are a unique team. We all work from remote locations, but we are very close. We have fun and enjoy daily banter (including gifs!).

Everyone here gives their all to make our company successful. Nobody feels like their role is more important than the next person.

Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
Perseverance! I would not be where I am today without having gone through my past struggles. To me, life isn’t worth living if it’s not challenging from time to time. That would be boring! I love to work through the tough times and situations because history has shown me the other side is that much better.
