Today we’d like to introduce you to Deirdre Phlegm.
Hi Deirdre, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I always could make people laugh .. my job at the pharmacy led one of the customers to introduce me to my now acting coach Charnele Brown that’s been since 2014 .. and through her guidance and lessons of the stage it has brought me to where I am today writing, acting, and behind the camera as well.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Definitely not smooth .. being a mother of three and working while trying to audition and carve out a place for yourself is a tough thing to do. You hear enough “No’s and thank you for your time” you begin to self-doubt Countless video submissions with no feed back .. it makes you sit with yourself and your thoughts
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’m known for my humor and timing and being able to tell a good story. I love being on stage bringing characters to life … I’ve been able to bring a small piece of me to each character that I’ve portrayed being able to relate .. and I’m always called to bring the funny! On stage or in film ..
What matters most to you?
What matters most to me is doing what makes you happy. You only get one life .. why live it .. being upset and angry over things you can’t change .. As long as god allows me to wake and see another day .. make it count and be happy
