Meet Diane Molano of Molano’s Majestic Images in Northeast

Today we’d like to introduce you to Diane Molano.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I am proud to say as a photographer that I can capture images of the present that become a past that never repeats itself. There was a point in time when I felt lost in my own world because I lost a loved one to cancer. I had many opportunities to take pictures of him with the family but I was in denial that death was upon us.

I felt that if I took pictures that would mean that I was losing faith and didn’t want this person to feel he had no chance of his own to fight for his life. I didn’t bring myself to take pictures and before I knew it he passed away and all I have left is the memory of him. This is what helped me become more serious as a photographer because I don’t want to lose those memories anymore I want to at least catch a glimpse in a photograph. I am the photographer behind Molano’s Majestic Images. Ever since I was a little girl I always enjoyed taking pictures of friends and family. As time passed by and I got older I have started to appreciate what a photograph represents which is something that you can not only look back on but reflect on as well. I started out with a polaroid then Canon Point and Shoot then years later I bought my first Canon T3i.

On January 1, 2019 my loving & very much supportive sister Faye surprised me with a Canon Mark 5DII with a couple of lens to get me going. I have been doing photography off and on for approximately six years but these last three years I’ve gotten really serious. I’ve joined several photography groups, went to many meet and greets, I’ve networked and along the way have made some awesome friends. Even though I have accomplished a lot, I still want to keep on learning and thriving in this industry.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Has it been a smooth road? No! Honestly, I went on Houston’s Craiglist did a search of photography, classes and paid someone to teach me the basics that consisted of 8 hours. I didn’t learn very much but what I did learn I tried to memorize it and of course it’s like if you don’t use it you lose it kinda thing. Some things such as what is an aperature, use my settings correctly remembering depending time of day was not to forget to change the white balance so yes I had to relearn it over again being at the time I was more of a photographer hobbyist. My challenge came was learning how to use my cropped DSLR to an upgraded full-frame camera and having to start all over and learn the differences between one and the other. Since 1st of the year 2019, I am more at an advantage than disadvantage with my photography and focusing more on a business standpoint.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Molano’s Majestic Images story. Tell us more about the business.
The name of my Business is Molano’s Majestic Images. I started this business as a hobby but later on became something bigger and I hope to make it better throughout the years. I specialize more in portrait, fashion, night long exposure and some sports photography. I’ve had some exposure as a 2nd shooter in weddings. I love meeting people, interaction, networking and making sure everyone is happy and satisfied with the way I run my business. I believe I am known for always being open for collaboration. I love being a photographer it is a huge part of my life.

Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
The best luck I had was the fact that God guided me to find a facebook photography group called Houston Photoshoot Connection. That then led me to following of many other groups such as Funnight Photography in Houston, Houston Night Time Photography, Houston Photography Group, Models and Photographers Meetup, Texas Shooters Photography, TFP Houston Photographers and Models, TFP Photographers and Models – Katy; all of which have helped more in-depth of network and am happy to have bonded a relationship with teams of inspiring photographers and models.
