Meet Dusti Grassmann and Christian Oropeza of La Familia Tattoo Parlor in Spring

Today we’d like to introduce you to Dusti Grassmann and Christian Oropeza.

Dusti and Christian, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Our families met about six years ago and have been working together for the better part of those six years. In that time we developed a bond and became family, we have celebrated and grieved together, our children are growing up together, and they are watching their parents leap of faith to build a business that we truly believe in. We have spent our carriers working towards everyone else’s dream. It was time that we put that work into our dreams for our families. But our families are only part of the equation. The other part is our dedicated customers; they too have become like family. They have encouraged us and supported us and helped us to have to confidence to step out there and start our shop. Without the help and support of our friends, family, and customers, we would not be where we are today, Building a future for our children.

Has it been a smooth road?
Opening a new business is never a smooth road. We thought we were prepared. We were not. Within the first month, our shop was vandalized, BUT we didn’t let that stop us or damper our spirits, it made us work harder. Month by month, we watch our business continue to grow, whether it be “old” customers coming in for something new or new customers walking in to get their first tattoo. We have worked hard to create an environment that everyone is truly comfortable in and that our artist can create beautiful works of art.

Tell us more about the business.
We are a family owned and operated tattoo parlor. We specialize in Custom Tattoos, and we have an artist for everyone, whether it be Black and Gray, Color, Realism, Portraits, Freehand, Old School, New School. You name it. We have an artist that can do it in a calm, clean environment. We are proud of how far we have come in such a short amount of time and the team that we have created, and we are excited to see what the future holds for us.

How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
The tattoo industry is constantly growing as body art becomes more and more acceptable; we want to be part of it and produce quality body art.
