Today we’d like to introduce you to Elmira Frias.
Las Velas was originally built as a home 30 years ago. The man who created the venue was so fascinated by European art that he decided to use that as his inspiration when designing the building. Not long after being built as a home, it was transformed into the venue Las Velas (original name Paraiso Maravilla).
Has it been a smooth road?
Las Velas is very fortunate it that it has been a venue for 25 years. With that being said it also means it has had to withstand the constant changes of the event industry. Whether its a style trend or generation trend, Las Velas is always learning how to stay relevant.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Las Velas story. Tell us more about the business.
Las Velas has been one of Houston’s premier events venue for over 2 decades. It is considered to be one of the first boutique venues outside of the traditional ballroom. The most memorable feature is its elaborate architecture which is reminiscent of 17th & 18th-century Tuscan villas. Lush gardens, spectacular fountains, and decorative hand-carved stonework surround the space and provide an unforgettable setting for any special day.
How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
In the next few years, I believe that brides will opt for a more intimate and simple wedding.
