Estella Lopez founded Healthcare Business Connection, LLC in March 2010, after serving 20 years in the healthcare industry. Her vision and passion are to help physicians, dentists, nurse practitioner and facilities enhance current business practices and allow doctors to focus on patient care.
Her career began as a t Doctor’s Hospital on Airline at the tender at of 18. As she developed her skills as she moved into more challenging roles and into management. As she continued to progress in her career and education, she held various management positions for the University of Texas at MD Anderson Cancer Center and Texas Children’s Hospital, respectively.
She graduated from Texas Tech University with a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Biology and earned her MBA in Healthcare from Our Lady of The Lake University.
She enjoys hiking, Zumba and volunteering at community events.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Smooth… Well no. Opening and venturing out into your own business is highly risky and very difficult. I lived in the Heights when I decided to open my business. I lived in a one bedroom duplex. Every day I would wake up at 4:30 am to begin my day by developing and laying the foundation for my marketing campaign to gain clients. Changing things that did not work and moving forward with plans to do better.
At 8:30 am I would start pounding the pavement, going to networking, scheduled meetings, luncheons, and finishing around 3:00 pm to get ready to teach at the college at night from 530 pm to 10 pm, my part-time job. Then back to the grind at 4:30 am. I would run into 50 nos before I’d get one maybe. I did this for 3 years before I could transition to full time into my business.

HBC provides an additional understanding with administration management, human resource and payroll services, credentialing, revenue cycle management, IT management, and compliance as we complement our client’s current team.
What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
The proudest moment to me is to hear my clients tell me that they are glad we met. I have had several clients tell me that we are part of their office and know what we are doing. Which in our industry is invaluable.
