Today we’d like to introduce you to Francisco Tjanis.
Francisco, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I’ve always taken pride in my rides, whether it was my daily or my pavement princess. It didn’t matter if it was my little beater that took me back and forth to school each day, it was gonna shine! It all started with a couple of dollars and a dream at the local Home Depot. I was determined to achieve a more professional finish on my wash, so my uncle hooked it up on a brand new pressure washer. Then I went down to O’Reilly’s, got your basic auto detailing supplies and was on my way! The first vehicle I detailed, other than my own, was for a friend of mine. He called me up, and here I was with all my generic soaps and sprays, thinking I’m hot stuff, and once it was done he couldn’t get enough! He started telling all his friends and before I knew it, there would be a line of trucks and cars in my driveway when I got home each day, all waiting on a detail.
Needless to say, after extensive research and testing, I have now found higher quality products and techniques that make my job easier and at the same time exceed the expectations of my clientele with a detail that you just can’t get anywhere else! That’s what got me here today. I started going to some local car and truck shows, seeing what other people used, meeting up with some detail suppliers and following different accounts on social media. Then I would take all that information and put my own spin on it to take it to the next level. I started working my way into some of the car and truck club circles. I would detail a car for one of them and then another, and before I knew it, I was detailing most of their rides! Since then, my business has been blowing up! I’ve got some of the best clients in the business. They know quality when they see it, they are extremely loyal to me and my work, and they represent my brand all over! Overall, I’ve taken that few dollars and a dream and made it come to life!
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Shortly after I bought all of my supplies, and finally had some money coming in…Hurricane Harvey hit. Being Houstonians, we all know the devastation that storm brought. Nobody was safe. Our house flooded, my family’s houses flooded, my buddies houses flooded…needless to say, nobody was thinking about a detail. We were all just trying to make our homes whole again. Then November rolls around and just as things are getting cleaned up, it’s cold and rainy weather. Nobody needed a detail. Finally around January, things started to pick back up again. And it’s been rolling ever since!
So, as you know, we’re impressed with Southern Coast Detailing – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
At Southern Coast Detailing we specialize in all different areas of detailing! We are especially known for our acute attention to detail. NOTHING escapes our notice. We have clients who come to us after one detail and say, “How in the world did you get that so clean? The last guy I took it to didn’t even bother to clean there!”. We go where no detailer has gone before! If it means breaking out the q-tips and the toothpicks to get that speck of dirt out of your console or the dust our of your air vents, we will stop at nothing to get your ride looking better than when you drove it off the lot. We deliver a quality detail in a timely manner. No waiting hours on end for your ride to be ready. As a business owner, I feel a great sense of pride in the fact that if people see my sticker or card, they know the quality of work that comes with it. When they see a sick ride in a picture on social media or in a magazine and notice my work, man it’s just the best feeling. And then when they need detailing for a photoshoot or music video, they know who to call. That’s an amazing feeling, to get to bring my talent and make it a part of their success.
So, what’s next? Any big plans?
Future plans! Well, the biggest thing is wheel polishing. That attracts lots of different clients. We get slammed trucks on Billets, lifted trucks on Forces, streetcars on Pro Comps. I’ve recently had more and more clients asking and each set that I have done have really turned out awesome. It’s one of my favorite things to do. Taking something that starts out as dull and sad looking and transforming it back into a luxurious work of art. We are also excited to be expanding our detailing from our home base shop to even more extensive mobile services with our new mobile set up! This will make it even easier to take pride in your ride! Just think, you can be at work and come out to a freshly detailed vehicle after a long day on the job without ever having to lift a finger! We’ll bring the shop to you!
