Today we’d like to introduce you to Ibarracolor.
Ibarracolor, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I consider myself a person who creates things, I grew up in the streets of Caracas where urban interventions of contemporary art abound, which took over me, so I fell in love with that movement of taking art directly to people and not that people have to go directly to art, my training is purely self-taught and has no limitations beyond the pure pleasure of creating and sharing my pieces, I have no intention of recognition of artistic entities I just want to reach the average person, I want to touch the doors in those that art does not exist in their lives.
I do not think that art has to do with a fancy background, but rather with the pleasure of creating, of bringing to reality ideas that are in the mind, that’s why I do not usually include any kind of trajectory, I just let my creations speak for me.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
I would not define my path as something hard, because within my creative process, I only seek to do what I want and what makes me feel good, as a way to drain the stress of daily life, in that aspect, I think I’m not following a path, if not rather I’m creating one step by step.
Please tell us more about your work, what you are currently focused on and most proud of.
I do not feel that I define myself as an artist, in fact, I do not like definitions but you could say that I am a person who creates visual solutions focused on minimalism and the abstraction of color.
I am obsessed with the art of printing with gallery or museum quality, I think it gives the necessary flexibility for those who are looking for a visual solution for their homes, offices, public spaces or buildings at less subjective prices.
Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
My collectors who trust me are one of my main supports and at the same time my biggest motivation.
Of course, you can not leave out the support of friends, family and my wife who has always supported me.
