Meet Jaimie Williams of Credit Merit Consultants in North Houston

I am from a small town called Laplace, Louisiana, I am the youngest of 13 children, my mother was working very hard being a provider for all us and teaching us what you don’t learn in school, like having good character, respect, morals and values. It’s a generational curse, that no one taught her, like many other families, that your credit follows you throughout your life. We were not taught how to establish credit or how to keep it, once we did get it. It’s also not taught in schools in my hometown or state about credit and finances, one of my many goals as the owner of my business and a certified credit repair specialist, is to change that!.

I started my company with the passion of wanting to repair, teach and assist as many people around the world about the importance of having good credit. At one point in my life, I was just like my clients, I had fallen victim to the weight of survival in this thing we call life. My childhood best friend and I, applied and maxed out every credit card we were approved for within our first 6 months of college, after being told to not get “those cards” by my parents, but due to my lack of knowledge and understanding at the time, I did it anyway(hard head)! It wasn’t until I was in my mid 20’s, early 30’s and had moved to Houston, TX by myself after Hurricane Katrina, that I started to feel ashamed to apply for anything knowing I most likely would get denied, so I convinced myself that I didn’t need credit, I could just use cash for everything, as I saw my family do while growing up, BOY was I wrong!

In today’s society, your credit is needed for everything from renting an apartment, purchasing a cell phone provider, getting a good car insurance quote, purchasing a home, even to rent a car!! I decided one day to make a change and try a credit repair company for myself. I was very skeptical due to all of the horror stories I was hearing and reading about, but I stepped out on faith and tried one, not knowing in the midst of my internal intervention, to my surprise, I would also find my calling! I started contacting the owner of the company via Instagram to ask different questions about her services and to repair my credit, and almost a year later, I ended being mentored by her, in fact, I became her first mentee! God gave here the vision about teaching me the ropes of the industry, she saw a lot of her in me, so she took me under her wing and taught me the ends and out of running a successful credit repair business and also certified me through the CCA board. I’m eternally grateful for all the tools and advice she gives me! My first clients were my mother, brother and boyfriend at the time. I went after what I wanted, as I was always taught by my mother to do, and 3 years later, here we are!

In the midst of getting back great results for my family, my corporate America job in oil & gas of 4 years, was going through layoffs, I knew it would eventually come around to our department as well, so with God on my side, I went public with my business on Instagram on June 15, 2016! I was no longer apart of corporate America by August 2016! My company is 85% based off of word of mouth! Receiving great reviews and thank you messages of assisting in a clients dreams coming true, of purchasing their dream home and/or car or basically just teaching them how to establish their credit, makes the countless hours and sleepless nights all worth it!

The biggest struggle is keeping clients motivated about realizing that their credit wasn’t ruined overnight, so it won’t be repaired overnight! Especially when there are credit repair companies popping up every other day, with false promises.Aany client that I have ever lost, at some point has come back to graduate our program, it takes some clients longer than others due to bad spending habits or understanding the type of changes that are needed, every situation is different. It takes time, consistency, patience and dedication daily to not only get your credit back on track, but to stay there!

Also, finding employees who have the same passion as I do, it’s been a time to where I’ve had a 100 clients, working on them by myself, I know once it is that I’ve done the work, it will be correct, even if it takes me a little more time… Building a great team is very important, we are a staff of 3 right now, with the help of my best friend when she is available from her corporate job. Having a great support system is very important as well in my success.

Most people only see the highs of being an entrepreneur and not the daily day to day struggles. In the midst of becoming an entrepreneur and building my business, unexpectedly, I lost a niece, two sisters and my beloved mother all within the past year and 1/2! I thought my world was over to have lost my best friend! I knew she taught me a lot, but more now than ever, I rely on everything she instilled in me, I will forever miss her daily, but I know she is with me every day and pushing me to keep going, especially on days, when I think I can’t! My three year anniversary is coming up and I couldn’t be more excited to have survived another year in an oversaturated, competitive industry! All my test, are now becoming my testimony!!

Growing up in such a big family, you would think I would’ve gotten lost in the shuffle, but that has never been the case, we all have our own personalities, no 2 of us are exactly alike! God knew what he was doing by blessing my mom to have me last, me being the baby girl has always been worn like a badge of honor until this day, and I’m 40! I was fortunate enough to have an older brother who God has abundantly blessed, to not only be a father figure to me, but to be a great provider for our entire family. He’s taught me a lot of how to manage my finances, mentored me on how to deal with the daily struggles of life and most importantly, how I should be treated and respected as a lady at all times, Ive been taught to never settle!

I am always referenced by being called the baby or baby Jaimie! Of course, I was and still am spoiled, lol! Everyone thought I was older for my age because of how I carried myself in a respectful manner, growing up around my older brothers and sisters, who were old enough to be my parents, taught me a lot. My mother always made sure, I wasn’t treated like one of the grandkids, due to me being only 1 year older than the oldest grandchild, they always made sure I had a voice and an opinion on different family topics, because I was one of the children.

My personality has always been big, bold, direct but fun! I am very independent, upfront but respectful, respected and laid back, I am God fearing, have been in church all my life. My favorite scipture is Phillipians 4:13, I can do all things through Christ, who strengthens me! I easily adapt to my surroundings, and have been taught to treat people as I would want to be treated! I take pride in trying to be a good person everyday to others, and then myself.

With me being so close to my brother that’s before me, I have a tomboy side, we do most things together, but I have always been a girly girl! My interest are, I love fast cars, dirt bikes, sports, trap music and have a very strong work ethic, but at the same time, I love to be pampered, dinners, shopping, traveling, spending time with my family, a few friends, that special person and of course, sleep when I can! I’m an all around type girl!
