Today we’d like to introduce you to Jason Archer.
So, before we jump into specific questions, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I started painting and producing a rotating mural project called Frank Public Art on the exterior wall at the former Frank Restaurant in downtown Austin. Every month we would welcome a new artist and Josh was our fourth muralist. A few months later, he received a commission from Converse and asked for my help that was 2011.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It’s been relatively smooth, we are eight years into our business and run a lean operation. Our business has grown a lot and there is more competition, however we are viewed as the pioneers of the mural resurgence in central Texas.
Please tell us about Show Goat Mural Works.
Show Goat Mural Works is an Austin-based design and production crew with focus on large-scale murals. In collaboration with fellow artists, brand leaders, and experience makers across industries, Show Goat creates unique installations across interior and exterior spaces. Each hand-painted mural or sign is fit for purpose- to enhance public spaces, maximize storefront visibility or brighten a workspace.
Founded by Austin artists, Jason Archer and Josh Row, the Show Goat crew brings together the talent and styles of local creatives to continue building a collaborative art culture in Austin. While the city’s growth brings new buildings and businesses to Austin, the Show Goat mission is to create cultural landmarks that represent a diverse and bright community of makers.
If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
Started sooner, maybe. I dunno really, it’s been a good experience.
