Today we’d like to introduce you to Juan Carcano.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I started as a teenager helping my uncle on the weekends mowing grass and repairing homes. Once I was out of high school I realized college was not for me, so I opted to work instead with my uncle and waiting tables on the weekends. After working with him for some years we parted ways, and a year later he passed away from a brain aneurysm which then lead me to pick up his clients. Slowly my company grew from me and another guy to about 1/2 a dozen employees, until the Great Recession of 2008 hit. At that point new home painters flooded the re-paint market which I was in, so I made the move to commercial work. A good friend of mine taught my guys and I how to apply epoxies on floors and some steel. The same year a local Waterpark called needing help with their work, so the training paid off. We gradually learned more and more about Waterparks and doubled in size. I hired A girl to help with my books and we ended up getting married hehe, but she has helped me keep growing and managing money better to help us to keep afloat and maintain a cash healthy company. We know specialize in epoxy floors, Waterpark and commercial waterproofing.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
No! If it was smooth everyone would do it. By far the biggest struggle has been managing employees followed very closely by managing stress and lastly managing cash.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with Immaculate Painting and Construction – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
We are a company that specializes in 3 things, but we can also help in simple paint as well. Epoxy floors, Waterparks and waterproofing. I’m most proud of the constant growth yet maintaining a good client relationship. I’m very involved. 99 percent of issues, prices, scheduling, and finish outs go through me.
So, what’s next? Any big plans?
I owe a lot of credit to my clients, a lot of them don’t know but I watch what they do then pick off the things I like only to build my own “Frankenstein “with the pieces. My wife keeps me grounded always and has helped in our financial wellbeing. Then there’s a couple of employees that have taught me great lessons on managing and people skills.
