Meet Kaycee Celestine also known as Kayykilo in River Oaks

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kaycee Celestine.

Kaycee, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
Music started for me as poems in 6th grade that turned into raps by the 8th grade. It was always therapeutic for me to write how I felt down instead of crying or showing emotion.

I was influenced by Lauryn Hill, Missy Elliot and Nicki Minaj. I took a piece of all three of them and put my own twist to it. Music has always been a passion. I started to pursue music in high school but lost sight of where I wanted to go. I studied the game and decided to give it another try in 2019. I released a song called “Freestyle” in April 2019. Soon after that, I starting growing my platform as an artist.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It’s been a smooth road only because I feel I have been through my struggles already. I believe God prepped me for this very moment. I just tell myself not to focus on anyone else success only mine and I’ll be unstoppable. My time is coming.

Tell usaboutyour music – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
I am a female rap artist. I’d like to call myself a rockstar because I’m into all the fun shit that comes with it. What sets me apart is that I’m energetic, raw, confident and real. No rap cap! I don’t politic at all. It’s either I like you or I don’t. It makes feel good music also I make music to let you know pain is ok sometimes. I’m known for being myself and showing love to everyone. Gotta give love to receive it.

What is “success” or “successful” for you?
I define success by being spiritually in tune with yourself and God. Being able to help others with the platform that God has given you.
