Meet Kimberley Gassmann-Schantz of Madison Professional Group (MPG) in North Houston

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kimberley Gassmann-Schantz.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I grew up in The Woodlands and graduated from Texas Christian University. I have always enjoyed helping people and connecting people that seemed to fit whether it was business or social. I had the opportunity to work at one of the leading oil and gas recruiting firms in the Houston area. After about five years I did not feel that I was making the impact that I wanted and I wanted to focus on my family a bit more in my hometown.

As I transitioned out, I had so many great people, clients ask me what I was going to do next. I could hardly think of doing something else in the same space after the previous experience. And then I received a call from an individual that would change my perspective completely. I was on a weekend trip with my family celebrating my daughters birthday and a connect reach out to me and told me he need help with finding and connecting people in the finance industry. This was not my usual space but after talking with my husband and my mentor, I felt this was the next chapter that was God was bringing my way. I would have the flexibility I needed to be there for my family and still do what I am passionate about. It seemed to be a great match. Thus the launch of Madison Professional Group. The name of the company comes from my daughter. I never truly believed that I could do motherhood but she has taught me so much about myself. I wanted to create something with helping others that one day if she chooses we can work on together.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
The road has had its ups and downs. I have had a lot of humbling experiences. My divorce which I do not share on was a very trying time. I never imagined I would be divorced in my early thirties with a child. But I pulled through this time.

The challenge of balancing the work and mother, wife was very daunting for me as it is for most women. I felt extra pressure because of my divorce as I did not want to let down multiple people. I did not just have my heart to consider but I had my daughters heart as well. This makes the decision-making process even more impactful.

Madison Professional Group (MPG) – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?

I want people to succeed in there interviews not just because we get paid but they are our clients as well. I want them to be happy with the job they are selecting and interviewing for. I understand that sometimes you have to take a role because you need to pay the bills trust me I have been in that situation but it about really focusing on the person.

Preparation for an interview is key, reading and understanding the culture of the company is key. In today’s landscape an important at component is the culture not just the abilities. MPG prides itself and helping make that connection and preparing the right candidate for there experience.

We specialize in finance and placing financial advisor. This space from the outside is a bit cold but once you get into it there is a lot of connections and feeling involved not just for the advisor but he has to think about his clients and what is in their best interest as well. How is this going to affect them as well?

I also like working the in financial space. I find it really rewarding because I get to connect with so many types of people.

What is “success” or “successful” for you?
To me, success is creating a business that empowers customers, employees, and community in equal measure. Success is wanting to add positive value to peoples lives from a personal and professional standpoint. It is important to have a job that you enjoy a spouse and family that loves you and cares for you, children that make you proud by who they are and having the freedoms to workshop a loving God. I am very blessed!
