Today we’d like to introduce you to L’amour Private Chef
Hi L’amour Private Chef , please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
As a child, I had no choice but to have an interest in the food area!! My mother Edith & My Great Aunt Minnie would always have me in the kitchen learning new southern dishes! It all began at the age of six. Learning to pick, cut & wash greens. Learning how to shuck corn and shelling all types of peas. My dad was a Pastor so Every Sunday after church we had Family Sunday Dinner like we were having a family reunion. My love for Cooking shows grew. After school it was always cupcake wars, chopped and Chef Ramsey.
Later on right after high school, I furthered my education in the medical field. At my jobs I sold plates. I wasn’t thinking of doing it as a business but just for extra funds. My peers thought I was crazy for not having a restaurant. I blew it off in the moment but my plate sells were growing from once or twice a week to every day.
What I thought would be my career for life, actually did not happen. In 2020 COVID hit and my job started doing layoffs. I was in disbelief. My thoughts were everywhere . So many questions of how. At that time I had a 5yr old son and of course bills. I went home that day being doubtful and having so much fear of what would be next. I went home and I remember sitting outside on my patio and I began to pray. I also thought about the scripture I had previously read days before. For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.. I then remembered I could start selling plates! It was covid and everyone at this time was afraid to leave their homes.
As plate sells grew, I began starting to provide Date Night in a Box. It was delivered right to your door. A 3-course meal for 2. From there as people lightened up some with the pandemic situation, I began getting request to do in home private chef services. I loved the fact that I was in homes I could only dream of having . I have been blessed to cook for celebrities and their families. CEOS of companies and many corporate events. I eventually started catering weddings, baby showers and birthday gatherings both intimate settings & grand settings.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I laughed at this question because there is nothing about a smooth road in business. You have to be ready at all times for different things coming your way. In this business you have to have a love of not just food but the love for people. I’ve encountered many different people and learning and having patience with them and to also make their moment special is a work of art. You have to be willing and ready to go above and get out of your comfort zone in order to level up!
