Today we’d like to introduce you to Lauren Sporrer.
Hi Lauren, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My interest in alternative medicine started after I broke my neck at 13. I needed to have an emergency fusion but didn’t have a single day of rehab and all in all I was disenchanted with the medical system so I knew I wanted to do something more preventative.
After pursuing a collegiate diving career and having some success, I went to chiropractic school, not knowing what I was getting in to. I found a passion in combining different alternative medicine approaches, and trying to provide support for people who fall into the cracks of our medical system and find themselves hopeless and without any answers.
After school, we moved to the Houston area and I started coaching Diving with The Woodlands Diving Academy. They happen to have space available and encouraged me to start my own practice. So with the absolute basics, I started my mom and Pop like, solo practice, and it’s continued from there.
truly, if I went into every detail. I would tell you I could not make up the story of how I got here, but it is by the grace of God because many times I feel a fly by the seat of my pants, but have had amazing mentors and support in my life to get where I am
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I would say both
My yes is because I have met the kindest, most supportive people who believed in me and trusted me with their care and referred me to their friends and family. For that reason, my practice state a float and in some small way has had success. Growing a practice from scratch in a place you are not from, is hard work.
I would say no because as many professionals find this, I am best at wearing the Dr. hat and not great at wearing all of the other hats that I try to wear and juggle. For this reason, there are many parts of my practice that are difficult for me or maybe just don’t even get done, but ultimately patient care comes first.
As you know, we’re big fans of Springboard Chiropractic & Athletic Performance. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
I am a chiropractor who specializes in myofascial and manual therapy, mobility and rehab. To most people this means deep tissue work. To my patients, this means silly nicknames based on the discomfort that comes along with the treatment, but the results speak for themselves.
You could go to 10 different chiropractors and have 10 different experiences so most of the time it’s about finding what works for you. What I want my patience to know is what is causing their pain or issue, why it happened and how we make it better. I want them to have my undivided attention and feel very empowered that they know how to have some control over their pain and their body.
I think I am most known for a relaxed environment, spending time with my patient, Truly teaching them about their body and probably my thumbs 🙂
Do you any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
I grew up boating on Lake Winnebago in Oshkosh Wisconsin. If I wasn’t playing a sports or working and weather permitted, I was out on the water with my family or my best friends. As a child that was true freedom and joy. The water is my happy place.
