Meet Lidia Napoli

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lidia Napoli.

Lidia, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I’ve been acting professionally since I was 18 years old. Acting really changed my life. It helped me to push myself out of my comfort zone and to know myself better. It’s a way to fully express myself and to live my life at its fullest. I’ve always been really dedicated and passionate; nothing could distract me.

I started with theatre, and after working as an extra in “The International” by Tom Tykwer, I moved completely into movie and TV sets. I never thought of me as a screen actress before that experience; I think that I just loved too much that huge movie set!

I’ve worked in many movies and on TV for both Mediaset and Rai. Since cinema is my biggest passion, I’ve decided to write and produce my own projects as well: my first short movie “Jack” was screened in several American festivals, it won awards in USA and Asia, and it was aired on Spanish TV. I also won Best Actress at the Cult Critic Movie Awards.

I have also provided my voice for audiobooks and radio jingles, and I was twice a jury member at the Giffoni Film Festival. I’m dedicating my life to something that I love so much.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Definitely a lot of struggles, every day is a challenge. My first struggle was living totally alone in a difficult city like Rome, I left my hometown when I was still a teenager, but I have to say that those years strengthened me, taught me, and made me who I am.

Being an actor is not easy; you have to work constantly and always improve yourself. I think that you can’t be an actor if you don’t really, really love it. No one can imagine how hard life on set is, how many times I was beyond exhausted, and I could barely move.

But in the end, it’s about making the right choice in your life, and I can proudly say that I’ve made the right choice.

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about more about it.
I work 24/7, and I organize my time wisely in daily tasks. As an actress, I go to auditions, study scripts, work on sets, and record audiobooks. As a producer, every single day, I have to work on the current project, so it depends on the stage of the production. Plus, I take marketing and languages courses, and I write and read a lot.

I always keep myself busy and challenged; I do my best to stay focused.

Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
Being punctual and tenacious in completing working activities.
