Meet Luis A Velasquez of LV Branding in Energy Corridor – Katy

Today we’d like to introduce you to Luis A Velasquez.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Luis. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I’m just a guy with vision who’s lucky enough to have the ability to handle different kinds of cameras and multiple design programs in order to tangibly express my creative vision that comes from within.

I’m a Caribbean man, from the most beautiful country of Venezuela, but I live here in Houston. ¬ I’m an Artist, Commercial Photographer, Director, Art Director, Director of Photography (DoP), Cinematographer, Multimedia producer, and a branding expert. I’m a doer and a visionary with 20 years of diverse experience – but, I’m not as old as you are thinking – (laughs). I have been able to bring many brands to life with powerful visual storytelling, because well, I have to admit that I’m obsessed with audiovisual works! Above all else, I have to say that I am incredibly thankful for the amazing opportunities that I’ve been given by God along the way.

I have been in love with learning and teaching for as long as I can remember, and I consider my life purpose to be generating ideas, concepts, and campaigns aimed at bringing effective communication strategies to improve businesses’ growth and establish a strong brand identity that my clients are proud of and want to show off!

In Miami, Florida, I worked for UHI Cosmetics, a transnational cosmetics company. For UHI, I had the honor of conceptualizing the image of the products, designing each package, designing the news stores in 3D, photographing, producing and directing commercials for more than five brands, etc. These campaign elements were distributed in 17 countries in 1800 locations on five different continents! Then, to be closer to my wife’s family, we moved to Houston. And now, I have the privilege of working as an Art Director for Adcetera, one of the largest and most well-established independent creative agencies in Houston, which manages important clients such as The City of The Woodlands, Memorial Hermann, HP, to name just a few!

In a nutshell, it has been an amazing voyage so far, and this is the “job” of my life – always guided by God and with the best company and support of all: My gorgeous wife and daughters! Their support is what motivates me to better serve God, the places where I have worked and the amazing brands that I have managed.

This is my way of leaving a legacy and my reason for living.

This is me, and this is my story!

Has it been a smooth road?
Well… after 15 years of effort in my Advertising Agency in my home country of Venezuela, after reaching a certain level in my career, I had to make the difficult decision to pack my dreams in a suitcase and start over. Moving to a brand new country and city and starting over in my career path certainly has not been easy, but I must admit that this country has received me incredibly, especially Houston. Houston has been such a warm and welcoming city full of opportunity, and not to mention full of amazing cuisine options! ¬– As you can see, I also love accumulating both new audiovisual knowledge and culinary experiences (Laughs).

To answer your question more directly, I have to say that it has not been as smooth of a road as I would like of course, but the challenges I’ve faced along the way have made me stronger both personally and professionally. I know that I have a firm purpose of constantly working to improve myself and my skills to remain at the forefront of advances in this interesting, complex, fun and exciting audiovisual world that I love deeply. I also work hard to contribute my unique talents to this wonderful country and make an impact not only here in Houston but internationally, and of course to make my family proud and keep them happy.

We’d love to hear more about your business.
I am represented by the trade name LV Branding (using my name’s initials), and under that name I am a Commercial Photographer, Director, Art Director, DoP, Cinematographer, and Multimedia producer. This is a branding business that has been the driving force behind the launch and evolution of many brands over the last twenty years.

In LV Branding we specialize in Filmmaking and Cinematography, Conceptualizing and Brand Development, e-Commerce Photography, Advertising Photography, Social Media Content, Packaging Design, Art Direction, Collaterals, and 3D Design.

Oh! now that you are asking me about what I am known for, I am analyzing, and I have realized that the things I most well-known for are Conceptualizing and Brand Development, and Commercial Photography! (You guys are really good!)

Ok, now we get romantic! (laughs). I am proud of many things, among them and I believe that the main one is that we can create everything from the name of the brand to the communication strategy so that each brand can grow and stay powerful and relevant through time.

Think of it like this: It is something like planning to have a child and raise him/her in a responsible way, with firmness and much love and care, to see him/her reach adulthood successfully you know? It’s a fascinating process!

Is our city a good place to do what you do?
Yes, of course! Not only do I get to work with like-minded creatives every day doing what I love, but now I also get to share my experience and my story with a great Houston magazine like yours. (Laughs).

Definitely yes! This is a big city and I think there is a lot of opportunity for talent to develop and flourish here. I hope to see over time an increase in audiovisual production centers, more brand, advertising, and marketing consulting companies and more employment sources that further strengthen Houston’s growth and of course the whole country.
