Meet Marie Topper of Houston

Today we’d like to introduce you to Marie Topper.

Hi Marie, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
My story really began when I was attending the University of Houston. It was during that time, in the 2010s, that the social media bubble began to emerge with apps like Foursquare, Instagram, and Twitter. I became fascinated by these platforms and the idea that I could digitally connect with the world. I vividly remember attending a few SXSW pop-up events, and I instantly became hooked. I was so excited to learn about tech start-ups and see how people were embracing technology and social media to transform the way they connected with others.

Fast-forward a decade, and I’ve built my professional career around marketing and embracing digital transformation at the enterprise level.

While I’m incredibly grateful for my career and all of the wonderful business experiences I’ve gained along the way, the entrepreneurial side of me felt called to build something more personal and relatable in the digital space.

That’s where Bellissima Marie came to life.

Bellissima Marie is a positive quote and lifestyle page inspired by my Italian heritage and my belief in embracing who you are while continuing to become the best version of yourself. It’s a creative outlet, but it’s also a continuation of what originally drew me to social media: the ability to connect with people through a digital space.

In many ways, I feel like I’ve come full circle. What started as a fascination with the possibilities of digital connection in college has evolved into both my career and something I’m building for myself through Bellissima Marie.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
I wanted Bellissima Marie to feel authentic and to be a true representation of me and my positive outlook on life. I wanted to create a space that felt positive, optimistic, and encouraging.

Some of the hurdles along the way have been overcoming imposter syndrome and reminding myself that success doesn’t happen overnight. When you’re putting something personal into the world, it’s easy to question yourself or wonder if people will connect with your vision.

I spent a few weekends developing the concept, thinking through the brand, and figuring out which social media platforms made the most sense, along with the backend and operational side of keeping everything running. There’s a lot that goes into building something from the ground up, even when it starts as a creative idea.

I’m learning to embrace the process and remind myself that I don’t need to have everything figured out from day one. I just need to keep showing up, stay authentic, and give the idea room to grow.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Professionally, my background is rooted in marketing and digital transformation. I’ve had the opportunity to work with businesses and organizations to help bring ideas to life, improve the way they connect with their audiences, and navigate the ever-changing digital landscape.

I think one of my strengths is being able to bridge the gap between strategy and communication. I enjoy taking something complex and figuring out how to make it clear, engaging, and relatable.

I’m also proud of the fact that I’ve continued to evolve. I started out studying communication at the University of Houston, built a career in digital transformation, and now I’m applying those same skills to something I’ve created myself through Bellissima Marie.

We love surprises, fun facts and unexpected stories. Is there something you can share that might surprise us?
I really enjoy staying active, and every year I like to set a new fitness goal or challenge myself to try something different. This year, I decided to learn both pickleball and tennis. I’ve participated in two pickleball leagues so far this year, and I’m currently taking tennis lessons.
