Meet Michael Haapaniemi of Ranch Office in Spring Branch/Memorial

Today we’d like to introduce you to Michael Haapaniemi.

Michael, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
The Ranch Office was founded in the Spring of 2019 as an alternative to the techy, Silicon Valley style flexible office spaces. Instead, we sought to create a homey, neighborhood environment that operates on southern hospitality. “Life is Better at The Ranch” applies not only to our warm, Ranch-style design, but also to the level of personal service you receive, and to the community that makes you feel like a part of the family.

After less than a year of operations, we’ve achieved full occupancy and are looking to spread our mission of making people’s day to day brighter beyond our single location and into more neighborhoods around Houston.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
The road to success is never smooth. We’ve had our share of ups and downs along the way, but we’ve kept to what we do best, which is delivering an overwhelmingly warm experience for our members, and that’s kept us growing and staying strong. When COVID-19 struck, we faced lots of uncertainty, mostly due to the unknown paths of our member companies. However, we’ve made sure to work with our members so they know we have their backs, and that’s been key to maintaining our high occupancy levels.

Please tell us about Ranch Office.
The Ranch Office is a Texas-born coworking office. We offer various office and workspace memberships for businesses looking to join a warm environment built on southern hospitality. In addition to fully-furnished private offices, we offer flexible workspace, virtual address services, conference room rentals, and event space.

People love being at The Ranch because of the atmosphere we’ve created – not only with our rustic, yet modern Texas style space but also our family-style community and service.

If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
If I could start again, I would have invested more into pre-leasing. Opening our doors with only a few members signed up was a scary prospect, but we focused on our strengths and ultimately, people flocked. We filled up quickly!
