Today we’d like to introduce you to Monserrat (Monsi) Roldan.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
If you would’ve told me a few years ago that I’d be the owner of my own beauty studio, doing what I love every single day, I wouldn’t have believed you.
Growing up, I always loved beauty. I was the friend doing facials, the girl with all the products, and eventually a makeup artist on the side. But I chose to pursue the medical field and became a medical assistant, thinking that was my purpose. For a while, it felt right—until life unraveled.
In 2020, I lost both of my medical jobs due to my DACA status lapsing. That loss wasn’t just financial—it shook me to my core. I spent the next couple of years working, but silently battling severe depression, anxiety, and emotional exhaustion. I was disconnected from everything and everyone, including myself. I reached a point where I couldn’t keep going the way I was. I felt lost, heavy, and numb.
The only thing that got me through that season was the unwavering love and support of my husband. He held it down for us in every way—financially, emotionally, spiritually. He saw something in me that I couldn’t see in myself. Because of him, I had the chance to slow down and breathe again. He gave me the space to rediscover who I was, and it’s because of that love that I had the courage to start over.
That’s when I revisited beauty—not as a hobby, but as something I could build a future from. I enrolled in esthetician school and graduated in March 2023. A few months later, in June, I officially launched *TwentyFourEsthetics*. I started small, sharing a space with another provider, slowly building my clientele and confidence.
But in early 2024, I felt this undeniable pull. My spirit knew it was time for something more—something mine. I prayed for clarity, and in April 2024, God opened the door. I found the perfect suite and signed the lease on April 24th—my birthday, my favorite number. That moment felt like divine alignment. It was the confirmation I didn’t even know I needed.
Since then, my business has grown in ways I couldn’t have imagined. I’ve met the most beautiful souls, built genuine connections, and witnessed transformation—inside and out. I don’t just perform services; I hold space for women to feel safe, seen, and worthy.
My journey hasn’t been easy. It’s been filled with sacrifice, faith, late nights, and tears. But it’s also been filled with peace, purpose, and a deep love for what I do. I didn’t grow up with faith, but in my darkest moments, I found God—and through Him, I found myself.
Every part of this story—from losing everything to creating something beautiful—is a reminder that even broken beginnings can lead to powerful new chapters. And for that, I’m endlessly grateful.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Definitely not. The road to get here has been anything but smooth. There were seasons where I was completely lost—mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. Losing both of my medical jobs due to my DACA status in 2020 flipped my world upside down. I was doing everything I could to “make it,” but behind closed doors, I was barely holding it together. I struggled with depression, anxiety, and burnout so deeply that I didn’t even recognize myself anymore.
Walking away from the medical field felt like failure at the time. I had poured so much into that path, and letting go of it left me feeling broken and uncertain. But looking back, I see it wasn’t the end—it was the beginning. It was the moment I had to choose myself. And truthfully, I don’t think I would’ve made it through that time if it weren’t for my husband. His love, his patience, and his belief in me gave me the strength to even consider starting over.
Starting esthetician school didn’t magically fix everything, but it gave me a thread of hope. A sense of purpose I hadn’t felt in years. Healing came slowly—and running a business while navigating faith, finances, and my own mental health wasn’t easy. I had moments of doubt, exhaustion, and fear. I juggled working full-time at a wax chain while pouring every extra minute and ounce of energy into building TwentyFourEsthetics. No days off. Just me, a dream, and the constant question of “Can I really do this?”
Going solo was one of the scariest things I’ve ever done. But it was also one of the most beautiful. I didn’t have a backup plan—just faith that if God brought me this far, He wouldn’t leave me halfway.
And He didn’t.
The struggles refined me. The setbacks revealed me. Every obstacle pushed me to fight for the life I knew I was meant to live. And now, I wake up with peace in my heart, knowing I’m exactly where I’m supposed to be.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Twentyfour Esthetics is a private studio offering personalized facials, full body waxing, and brow and lash services—but more than that, it’s a safe space for women to feel seen, cared for, and confident. Every service is tailored with intention, focusing not just on results, but on creating a calm, judgment-free experience where clients can truly relax. What sets my business apart is the genuine connection I build with each client. This brand was built on faith, healing, and love—and I pour that into every appointment.
Before we let you go, we’ve got to ask if you have any advice for those who are just starting out?
Start scared, but start anyway. You don’t need to have everything figured out to take the first step—clarity and confidence come with action. I used to think I needed the perfect plan, but the truth is, growth happens in the process.
Don’t let comparison steal your momentum. Social media only shows the highlights—what you don’t see are the struggles, doubts, and lessons behind the scenes. Trust your own timing. Trust your process. And if you’re a person of faith—trust God. When I finally surrendered my own expectations and leaned into His guidance, things started aligning in ways I never imagined.
Stay consistent, stay kind, and always lead with heart. This industry is about more than just beauty—it’s about connection. People feel your energy. If your purpose is real, and your passion outweighs the fear, you’re already on the right path. God doesn’t call the qualified—He qualifies the called. So if He placed it on your heart, trust that the way is already made.
