One Sunday, I was leaving the Texans game (we won!), it just came to me like out of nowhere! I wanted to start my own lip gloss line. From the parking lot all the way home, I researched everything I felt I needed to know. From the base of the lip gloss to the containers I’d put them in. I was beyond excited and had this drive in me to get me to where I am now.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Of course, starting small businesses isn’t smooth sailing at all. Being a full-time college student, my biggest struggle was gathering the funds to buy all my supplies I’d need to fulfill aspects of my lip glosses. Saving a little from each check until I got enough was one of the sacrifices I had to make to begin the journey.
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Luciu Lip Polish – what should we know?
Luciu (lou-chu) Lip Polish was inspired to bridge the gap between healthy and sexy lips! All ingredients are vegan, pure, and nontoxic. I’d like for Luciu to be known as one of the city’s best lip glosses you can but your hands on! I feel very strong about the future success of this business venture just off of the support I am getting now and I haven’t fully launched yet!
Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
To meet the people where they are! Buyers want to know that you actually value their business! So for instance, if a long time buyer calls me up like “hey, I want to restock on some of the lip polishes, but I just don’t have any extra cash to spend.” I would, with no doubt, be sending them a lip polish, just to show gratitude for always supporting.
