Today we’d like to introduce you to Natalia Roxanne.
Every artist has a unique story. Can you briefly walk us through yours?
Packing a smooth and powerful voice infused with reggae, soul and RnB; Trinidad-born songstress Natalia Roxanne always had big dreams of becoming a singer. She began writing her own songs at the age of thirteen and began actively singing in church. Deciding to pursue her talent further, she traveled to the United States as a teenager, first landing in Miami, where she pursued studies in Music at Florida Memorial University and later landed in New York before finally planting roots in Houston in 2013. In early 2015, Natalia teamed up with local Houston producers – Analogue Escape, with whom she recorded her first set of singles, ‘ Black & White”, “Cool Loving You”, “Complicated” & “Losing You”. Natalia’s musical journey has had its share of ups and downs but as her name continues to rise in the industry, Natalia’s passion for her craft has continued to shine through her music. Her determination to succeed and raw talent is resonating with a rapidly growing fan base that includes young and old souls alike.
Please tell us about your art.
As a singer, being able to connect to people and share experiences and stories through song is humbling and I’m so grateful for that opportunity. Because music connects us universally, it is important to be intentional on the message you send out. For me, music has made me so much more vulnerable with expressing my thoughts but it’s been very freeing and extremely therapeutic. In my music I often speak about topics that everyone can relate to – relationships, love, insecurity, heartbreak – all of the things that add to our journey. At the end of the day, I hope to send positive vibes to those that listen and I hope it inspires others to do more whether that’s going after their dreams or letting go of a negative situation or going after love.
Do you have any advice for other artists? Any lessons you wished you learned earlier?
My advice for other artists is really to just remain consistent in who you are and know that everything happens the way it should. There’s so much more opportunity today to independently manage your own career with a lot more creative control, so take full advantage of it!
