Today we’d like to introduce you to Nelson Sanchez.
Nelson, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Grupo Delirio started a few years ago, my friend and partner Cesar Tristan and I decided to start a Tejano/norteńo band, we wanted to create a band that would be versatile, entertaining and professional. Throughout the years, we started growing in popularity and started playing at night clubs, restaurants, private events, & cook-offs. We feel very happy and accomplished on what we’ve done with the band.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has not been easy, we’ve had to knock on a lot of doors to have an opportunity to perform. It’s really hard to keep a band together there are a lot of different personalities with musicians, everybody has different opinions but as leaders of the band we have to create and have control and keep everyone in harmony.
Please tell us about Grupo Delirio.
I am the lead singer and accordion player. I’m also in charge of PR. I really proud of the what we’ve accomplished and the reputation we’ve created for our band as professionals and entertainers. What sets us apart from others is our professionalism and spirit.
Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
Playing my toy accordion and imagining myself on stage with a large crowd singing along.
