Meet Netra Ford of Exceeding Autism

Today we’d like to introduce you to Netra Ford.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I am a business owner and autism advocate working to inform communities about the prevalence of Autism and special needs in the community.

In addition to being the author of two inspirational books and two urban fiction novels, I am a mother of a daughter and a son, a licensed nurse and the founder of Exceeding Autism, an organization providing assistance for the advancement of individuals on the autism spectrum. My occupational background as a nurse and former non-profit sector employee has given me vast experience in meeting people’s needs on their level…

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
My son was diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder at age two, and with significant therapy, patience and a lot of hard work, he has made significant strides. Our family struggled with going out in public and several day to day occurrences that most would take for granted.

He is now able to read, write and coexist in most environments, and also in a general education class at his elementary school in Humble ISD. Exceeding Autism was started to give other parents hope and resources after receiving their diagnosis.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Exceeding Autism – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
Exceeding Autism is a new non-profit organization that provides support, guidance, and resources to families and caregivers with children or loved ones on the autism spectrum. This foundation was built to create an environment that gives individuals the convenience of education, supportive therapy, social skills and finacial resources at one location.

So, what’s next? Any big plans?
Exceeding Autism is working to open a brick and mortar location that serves as a multi-purpose center for children with an autism diagnosis in 2020. I am also finishing up two additional novels to be released later in the year.
