Today we’d like to introduce you to Rebekah Matamoros.
Rebekah, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Event planning has always been a side passion of mine. From my kids birthday parties to family events and even events at the workplace, seeing my vision for entertaining guest come to life has always thrilled me. Being a mother of two and loving my job in sales I always dreamed of designing events and weddings as a career but could never seem to find the right time to make it happen.
In 2017, I found myself planning my own wedding and was naturally heavily involved. With every meeting I had from florist to food, reception and ceremony design and flowers I knew exactly what I wanted and was prepared with extensive detail.
Following my wedding my photographer approached me recognizing my love for planning and my eye for design and asked for my assistance with a styled shoot. Excitedly, I agreed and in October 2018 we found ourselves in Beach City, Texas with a beautiful bride, chargers, candles, and cake in hand. After the shoot, I was on an instant high running home to tell my husband and family all the details of the day. I was honored and humbled to be apart of the process that day and working with such an amazing team was the icing on the cake.
A month later to my surprise I received a phone call saying our shoot was going to be published in Southern Bride Magazine and we needed to submit our business names and information. At that moment, I knew it was time! Time to jump, time to make this dream come to life, time for Hopeful Events and Design to be born.
Since that shoot, I have been published three times, styled five more shoots, planned and executed six events and currently have 14 future events on the books in the next six months.
I am a firm believer in all things happen for a reason. I am incredibly thankful to Leslie and her team for the opportunity to style that shoot which gave me the perfect opportunity to take the plunge and give life to this dream.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Opening a business is definitely not easy, the process has brought on a lot of lessons. I’ve learned I can’t say yes to everything, to always have limits and standards and that I can live off of espresso at any time of the day. 😊
