Today we’d like to introduce you to Rebekah Reed.
Rebekah, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I moved here to Texas from Massachusetts, lived with my aunt and uncle and just loved it here. My aunt was a hairstylist and it was a dream of mine for as long as I can remember. I started In a salon where I stayed for 15 years until I realized it was time to move on and do my own thing. Education is key. This industry changes on the daily and without educating further you won’t get far. Instagram also helped get me where I am today because it is the best source of advertising your business and work.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Striggles, don’t we all have those? When I was pregnant with my third child I wanted to quick do hair. I wanted to find something to stay home with the kids. Then, during my labor, I had some complications and I was supposed to have some bed rest to get back to normal. I was going insane. After so much tv and Facebook, I thought let me get on Instagram, which wasn’t a social media I went on often. That’s when my love of hair came back and that helped me fuel my fire again. I couldn’t believe everyone that posted so much on Instagram and it was the best source for advertising that I never thought of. I started getting on and getting more information on education. That’s when I really fueled my fire, all the free education that was out there along with some more expensive ones but none the less educated. I was in heaven with the abundant amount of education out there. I felt revived and ready to explore even more. That’s when I started taking mental notes to get my own Instagram more vamped. If I could give any advice it’s that embarrassment builds character. If I can survive being bullied my whole childhood you can too.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with I’m•pulse Blu Salon – tell our readers more, for example, what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
im•pulse Blu Salon is my salon and I specialize in corrective color, extensions, and a good blonde! Although I love all colors! Fantasy colors are a blast to do as well. It’s definitely the most creative source of excitement. I would say I’m most proud of the salon because we are about self-growth and helping of others. We help everyone we can out and I love helping promote my other client’s businesses. The goal is to open a hair school one day!
So, what’s next? Any big plans?
As mentioned, I want to open a hair school but I have an idea that’s way different than most out there.
