Today we’d like to introduce you to Rochelle Johnson-Smith.
Rochelle, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
As I reflect on a question I asked God over 10 years ago, “What is it You will have me do for Your children?”, and now I can see how all of my prayers have manifested through revelations and ACTION! God created GFP primarily to do his Will although it may appear it is our doing something for Him. Actually, the desire of God’s heart when He created us wasn’t for us to do something for Him. God’s deep desire was that He would be joined to us and that we would be filled with Him. The Bible tells us that God made human beings as vessels to carry out His assignments. As it states in Romans 9:23, “In order that He might make known the riches of His glory upon vessels of mercy, which He had before prepared unto glory.”
GFP brought hope, healing, meals and shelter for many youth, the homeless, and single mothers in the name of Christ [with very few resources]. Our highlights came when the Visionary, Shermorious Hardy (my son), fed an unprecedented number of Houston’s homeless population in 2015. These pure acts of kindness prompted the acquisition of our current 501 (c) (3) to strengthen our mission – to cater to God’s children. Our work has been recognized by Congresswoman, Sheila Jackson Lee [in the 18th District]!
GFP is launching a year ‘round pantry and housing assistance for orphans as James 1:27 mandates us to do. As the leader of this ministry, my heart’s desire is to bring acts of restoration and reconciliation to our inner-city youth. As GFP ministers across the world, we recognize the critical state of our nation and God wants us to go higher in His purpose. To accomplish these goals we have relied upon community support. Through prayer we have been able to accommodate families in dire times.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
There have been several hurdles to jump over along the way! There has moments of despair from wanting to give more than the means allowed! We started out a 2 man show with me and my son. The plan was originally to aid aging out foster youth and it grew as we noticed that there is a greater need for homelessness prevention. The struggles has been in securing funding. We encountered several fraudulent representatives that misguided us and stole our life savings and attempted to steal our dreams of helping families. The setbacks was a set up for us to really focus on understanding the world of non-profits and building the company brand.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the GODFearing PowerHouse Organization story. Tell us more about the business.

What I am most proud of being of is being able to ignite hope and offer myself as beacon of light! Our life and those connected to our ministry all have a special component of passion to provide every life we are entrusted with! I have authored books 3 books of self-awareness, self-improvement and the importance of HEALING from life misfortune experiences.
Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
Working the Child protective service arena has afforded me the opportunity to see the needs of youth and how to best attend to those needs. Having an inside connection to hear from the youth keeps me in a position to remain relatable and resilient.
I was also able to author my book through my life experiences. I have also have the opportunity to travel and share my testimony to many who didn’t see the light in the gray cloud!
