Today we’d like to introduce you to Rocquelle Porch.
Rocquelle, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I initially designed the “Live In Color” sweatshirt for myself, with no intentions of selling it, but once people started requesting to order their own, I found myself inspired to create other designs. So, I opened an online shop! CML Goods is inspired by all of the creative, bold, and confident people I’ve met through my old blog, Consider Me Lovely {hence the CML}, my love of 90’s television, the people in my life who do this life thing their way, unapologetically, my obsession with colors and neutrals, and those, who like me, find that great style doesn’t have a definition.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Entrepreneurship is never smooth, so there definitely have been some struggles. One of the greatest struggles has been getting people to the online store. Some weeks, there are lots of visitors, and other weeks, not so much, but that comes with the territory. I am no SEO expert, but I’m learning and trying new things all of the time, which is a part of what entrepreneurship is about.
CML Goods – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
CML Goods is an apparel and design company, for men, women, and children. I create designs and use an online print-on-demand company to have them placed on varying items from t-shirts to phone cases — the company ships the items, as well, which allows me to keep personal inventory low. My designs are rooted in my pride as a Black woman, so I use typography, geometric shapes, and color to convey this pride, and many others can relate, which makes my products special.
What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
I am most proud that I even started a company, as doing so was never on my agenda. Every time I see someone wearing/using something with my design on it, my heart overflows with gratitude.
I’m also really proud of the fact that people seem to genuinely love my items, as I see them wear/use the items over and over again on social media.
