Meet Sarah Gaines of The 6 Figure Travel Nurse in Midtown

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sarah Gaines.

Sarah, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
Just three years into my nursing career I found myself feeling overworked, underappreciated and completely burnt out. However, I continued to deal with my circumstances because I felt as if there was no “way out” at the time. The straw that broke the camel’s back was when my time off request was denied just days after my dad passed away. I didn’t know exactly what I was going to do in that moment but I knew that something had to change. I ended up jumping into travel nursing and never looking back. Becoming a travel nurse gave me the autonomy to choose a better work environment, the freedom to take as much time off as I needed to grieve my father and the income to help my family, build my savings and invest in myself all at the same time. Travel nursing not only allowed me to escape a hostile work environment where I was overworked and underpaid but it opened my eyes to endless opportunities, I could use to leverage my experience, negotiate my pay and advance my career. Within a few years, I was making more than twice the amount of money I made as a staff nurse and only working nine months out of the year! Once I mastered the art of working less and traveling more, I wanted a way to share my knowledge and insight with as many nurses as possible. I created the 6 Figure Travel Nurse Course to empower and educate nurses who want to jump into travel nursing so that can accelerate their career, maximize their income, work less and travel more.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I have no regrets about jumping into travel nursing because this career path is the reason I became an entrepreneur who created a program that’s been life changing for so many nurses! But, I would definitely do quite a few things differently. Starting my career as a travel nurse was a constant struggle because I didn’t know the ins and outs of the industry which led to mistakes that cost me time, money and frustration. The obstacles I conquered ultimately became the lessons I teach inside the 6 Figure Travel Nurse Course. I’m thankful for the experiences I had because they led me to exactly where I am today. My biggest struggle was believing in myself and working up enough courage to put myself “out there” but the moment I did, everything fell into place. Now I’m able to use the knowledge I gained from my struggles to help other nurses who were in my shoes.
