Meet Shantell Coleman

Today we’d like to introduce you to Shantell Coleman.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Shantell. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.

Family is one of the many intricate contributions to who I am today; I am who I am because of my upbringing from my parents and grandparents. Being raised as an only child by my mother, it took a village and my village was strict and strong! At an early age, I was taught the importance of integrity, hard work, consistency and service. I’m from a small country town in Mississippi called Cleveland, where I was surrounded by family and friends that loved, encouraged and strengthened me. It all started with my grandmother, as a young woman she taught me two important caveats of cleaning; clean with an eye for detail and have a love and joy for what I do – that’s why I am always smiling, because providing excellent customer service is important to me. My grandfather strongly believed that in order for you to have something in life, you must work for it and be honest about it and that has stuck with me my entire life. In 2010, my father passed away from complications of surgery and I promised him that I would always make sure that I cared for my mother. My mother Jean, who I love dearly will never have to worry while I’m with her, she is the foundation of it all. Throughout the years, I have obtained an Associates degree in business, a real estate license, a Bachelor’s in psychology and financial management and a Master’s in social work thats in progress.
In September 2018, my mother started experiencing some difficulties with her heart, so in order for me to be able to financially contribute to her medical treatment and continue to travel, I decided to start a cleaning
business. I utilized the skills that I obtained from years of cleaning with my grandmother and my mother. With those skills, along with my father’s CB handle name crying shame, while working as a successful truck driver, I decided to name the business Crying Shame. My business is a constant reminder of many of have contributed to my success; it reminds me to always continue to push forward with my dreams!
Has it been a smooth road? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
My road to success has been bumpy, but anything worth having isn’t always smooth. Through my belief in God and prayer, I have learned from mistakes and learned how to pick myself up when things don’t go as planned. And yes, if I had to do it all over again the same way, yes I would! Crying Shame is small but mighty with its techniques and customer service, and this is why business is beginning to increase. I’m constantly learning, evolving and changing with the business and its needs. Networking is one of the most important aspects of Crying Shame’s business, we must do a great job and tell everyone about who we are and what we do. In the midst of it all, we were able to find an excellent cardiologist to care for my mother. I am grateful for every moment God allows her to be here with me.
Between traveling, working full time and building a business; it takes consistent prayer ,dedication, reading, and discipline.
