Today we’d like to introduce you to Sofia Angelle.
Sofia, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I grew up a creative: dance, aerial arts, orchestra, color guard, ice skating, essentially every artistic sport and activity you can think of; but I didn’t start seriously learning how to make my own music until December 2024, after seeing Billie Eilish—one of my biggest inspirations—in concert. I moved around a lot growing up and struggled with expressing emotions, so playing music and using my creative arts quickly became an outlet for me. Since then, I’ve taught myself production, mixing, and mastering, and now I create my music pretty much from start to finish myself.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Definitely not. I’m a full-time nurse and a mom, so finding time for music can be one of the biggest challenges. I’m also very much a one-woman team right now—I write, produce, record, mix, and master my own music, while also handling the creative and marketing side of being an artist. A lot of it has been learning as I go and figuring out how to balance everything.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’m an independent dark-pop artist. I make all of my music from start to finish completely on my own as of right now. I’m most proud of how much I’ve been able to learn and create independently in such a short amount of time. I think what sets me apart is that my music is very hands-on and personal – there’s usually a piece of me in every part of it
How do you think about luck?
I wouldn’t say luck has played a huge role in my career yet, but I’ve been really lucky in the friendships and connections I’ve made along the way. I’ve met a lot of creative people who have taught me things, inspired me, and helped me grow. I think most of my progress so far has come from being willing to learn, put myself out there, and keep going even when I don’t really know what I’m doing yet.
