Today we’d like to introduce you to Tiffany Purnell.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Tiffany. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I am a Licensed Social Worker by trade Community Activist at heart. Employed in the social services field for well over a decade I found myself in various groups among family, friends, peers and social media counterparts engaging in discussions far beyond the traditional 9-5 work hours – seeking my counsel, consultation and experience about social issues.
As a result, my desire to give more of myself has evolved and I have transitioned from personal phone calls, text, emails and DMs inquiring my assistance and insight to creating a social platform to bring awareness to things we discuss in the office break room, beauty/barber shop and over drinks at happy hour.
Created as a safe place to discuss the “hard stuff”, where dialogue to shed light taboo topics is exchanged – Tiff’ Talks is a contemporary podcast built on education and awareness created to take community outreach to the next level with interactive engagement. And as Owner/Operator and Host of Tiff’ Talks I engage individuals near and far in discussions far beyond the tradition podcast setting.
Has it been a smooth road?
Smooth? Absolutely not. The biggest struggle I have experienced is getting out of the way of my own fear. I am a people person, so engaging one on one even in small groups is second nature to me but broadcasting to a multitude of followers leaving a social media footprint has been an evolving task.
Nevertheless, I have gotten to the point that I am so focus on the outcome of my passion, I allow my passion to fuel my power – and that is what drives my content, consistency and motivation. Now I’m a little over a year as a Podcaster seeking an enlarged territory.
Please tell us about Jay Kencole Marketing – Tiff’ Talks.
Tiff’ Talks is a contemporary podcast hosted by yours truly LIVE biweekly Sundays at 4PM on Facebook and Instagram. During each ‘Talk Time’ I along with a Guest Host engage in discussions related to social issues impacting our community. The primary entity that sets Tiff’ Talks apart is we tackle the taboos- things like gun violence in our community, bullying in our schools, health and mental health disparities, breaking generational curse and building wealth, self-identity and worth and so on. In addition to interactive discussions education, awareness and practical insight regarding these topics are also provided.
During Tiff’ Talks first year of podcasting our highest-rated show had 300+ views with the topic being Tiff Talks: Teen Talk Back to School Edition focused on adolescent mental health. On average Tiff’ Talks has 70+ views within the first 24hrs of every episode and many more in the days and weeks to follow. What I am most proud of is the impact Tiff’ Talks has on those that tune in and engage as audience. You would be surprised of the individuals that DM me following each episode with additional questions, inquiring insight, sharing their personal experiences, seeking resources, sharing feedback of how an episode has helped them and how they have kept the conversation going far beyond our ’30-45min podcast.
As apart of Tiff’ Talks I host various community engagement and outreach projects as well, to include Tiff’ Talks Annual Season of Gratitude Campaign whereas I along with ‘Talk Partners’ and members of our audience share daily gratitude videos during the month of November and volunteer as a community on Thanksgiving Eve. Additionally, Tiff’ Talks host Annual Mother’s and Father’s Day Giveaways centered around self-care and empowerment and Back to School Giveaways for parents and educators to provide relief during back to school time.
How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
Over the next 5-10 years, I anticipate an enlarged territory to bring enriched awareness to the community on a broader scale as a mainstream talk show whether online or the ‘TV’ people watch on their phones these days. I see public speaking forums, conferences and marketplace ventures and a centralized community center with programs for youth/adolescents, entrepreneurs and all those seeking education and awareness to empower themselves and our community.
