I did not travel the conventional route to staging and design. However, I take pride in my inherent ability to design custom-tailored spaces for each client. Have you ever had that feeling that although you are making an impact on the world, it’s not your created purpose? After years and countless prayers, God answered. Starting my own business allows me to make a living combining my business background by conceptualizing, planning, and managing budgets, meetings, and proposals while pursuing my passion for art, patterns, fabrics, textures, and textiles.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
The road of entrepreneurship is often a bumpy ride. In addition to the learning curve, there are financial barriers to scaling and sustaining your business.
For example, I started my business by getting the customer’s items delivered to my home. They were assembled and stored wherever there was space until the items were delivered. Eventually, I progressed to a 10×10 storage unit, then a 10×20 storage unit, and now a small warehouse. However, I already have my eyes on a larger space.
Obtaining financing has also been difficult for me. Sure, I was offered small-dollar, high-interest loans ($5K); however, it requires at least $110K just for the Bookkeeper, Assembler, Installers, not to mention the Operations and support staff. Even as my business has started to flourish, I work full-time as a Compliance Officer to fund my business and pay my staff.

What were you like growing up?
My favorite childhood memory is my Grandfather, teaching me how to properly ‘make’ a bed (military style). He taught me the clean tuck of a flat sheet and how a neatly rolled comforter for preservation.
