Meet Tim Razkani of Signfly Printing & Graphics in Friendswood

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tim Razkani.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Tim. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
Graduated from UHCL with my BAF in Graphic Design. I started doing freelance graphic design and photography. I also started making custom longboards as a form of income. I eventually started working at a competitors sign shop doing the graphics work, sign fabrication and install. I learned the hands on part of the trade. I then was hired at UTMB Galveston in the printing dept. as a graphic designer/sign guy. This is where I learned the corporate aspect of the business. While I was there, I got the crazy idea of opening my own shop. I acquired a very small shop where I went after work and on weekends every day for a year and a half. I was very tired and I couldn’t do this much longer. One day when I was crossing the cause way I started praying and asking God what I should do. As soon as I got into work one of my colleagues walked up and said “Tim, why are you still working here.” I knew that was a sign and I immediately walked into my bosses office and put in my 2 weeks. I knew I wasn’t out of the woods yet and that it was a long road ahead of me. At this time my wife and I had just had our 2nd daughter, we decided that she should quit her nursing job and stay home with the baby. Well…things weren’t going so well and my wife and I made the decision to close the shop and move everything into my living room. VERY VERY cramped!! We did that for 6 months and then moved into another house. I fixed the garage up and moved everything into there. Print shop in the garage, wood shop for the boards in the back yard. We stayed like that for another 2 years. I knew the Lord had plans for us and boom……a nice spot in Friendswood opened up and I prayed about it. Well, you guessed it. He answered and we moved in and that is how it happened. Times were very tough and scary but I never lost sight of my dream. I am very blessed and humbled to be where I am today. I love what I do!

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
The normal learning curves and messing up jobs was tough, but having being newlywed and a new born baby made it hard to have to be working all of the time.

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Signfly Printing & Graphics – what should we know?
Well we are Signfly Printing & Graphics. We handle all aspects of printing. Whether it be business cards, brochures, car wraps or banners, we can take care of that for you. We specialize in customer service. We love what we do and it shows. We are very proud that about 90% of our business is referrals.

What sets us apart from others is, we are not like these other sign shops. We like to have fun at work and joke with our customers. I like to change it up and keep it exciting. I let customers get a chance of making a basket in the basketball hoop or making a put on our putting green for 10% off of the order. We make you feel like family.

Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
Well first off my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ made all of this happen. Without HIM I wouldn’t have my beautiful family or my business.

My wife would definitely be next. She always stayed positive and she always had faith in me. When I would come home tired, stressed and on the verge of tears, she would talk me through it and help me see all of the blessings that we had. She has been my rock and my best friend through all of this. The first year of our marriage I was always gone trying to get this started and she never once doubted me. She truly is a remarkable woman.

Third would be all of the people that doubted me and told me I couldn’t do it.
