So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
The inspiration behind The Noble Fox Shop began in 2017 with the birth of my son. I had attempted entrepreneurial ventures in the past but felt a stronger sense of urgency to make a positive impact for future generations. As a parent, I also struggled to find a single source for unique, quality goods for families.
As a result, I wanted to create a space where I could combine both these interests, hence began The Noble Fox Shop.
Our journey has been very gradual and ever-evolving, but our core interests remain. Today, we have grown with the support of our community and hope to keep spreading positivity on a larger scale.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It definitely has not been a smooth road! There are good days and bad days.
My biggest struggles are balancing family and business life while staying focused on goals. While it can be a tough combination, it can also be very rewarding. I set goals for the day from as little as getting dressed for the day, to designing an email marketing plan. Busy parents know each day is different, so staying flexible is important and achieving something on your list lets you know you’re making progress.
It’s easy to become discouraged if you’re focusing on everything your business is not accomplishing. I try to keep focused on the positive and stay patient. Great things don’t happen overnight!
For any young women starting out, I highly recommend utilizing your resources and networking. Get out and meet people and share your story and what makes you unique. Rather than viewing your peers as competition, see them as allies. You can learn from each other and help each other out!
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about The Noble Fox Shop – what should we know?
The Noble Fox Shop is a boutique retail website. We specialize in unique, quality goods for families and the little ones in their life. Our collection features artisan designed items like diaper bag backpacks, baby carrier slings, teethers, linen blankets, nursery prints, cards, and enamel pins. We also feature Fair Trade certified items like, crochet rattles handmade by women in Bangladesh.
We are extremely proud of all the items we carry as they represent an artist who designed or handmade the items themselves. The Noble Fox Shop is a small business that supports small business.
However, our biggest accomplishment is donating 10% of our monthly earnings to a noble cause or organization. We are determined to make a positive impact and help our customers become just as involved with the process.
Finding a mentor and building a network are often cited in studies as a major factor impacting one’s success. Do you have any advice or lessons to share regarding finding a mentor or networking in general?
In this digital age, it’s easy to reach out to people through technology. However, I personally, have seen the best results from meeting people face to face. Understandably, it may not always be feasible, however, make the time when you are able. Making connections in your community will help others get to know you and support you and vice versa!
More specifically, local markets have been a great way for me to meet other entrepreneurs and get some helpful advice. It’s also a great place to test your products and see genuine reactions from your customers.
