Meet Travis Costello of Costello Safety Consulting in Cypress

Today we’d like to introduce you to Travis Costello.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Travis. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
Start a safety consulting & training business was not something the younger me would have ever thought about. Growing up in Washington state and spending most of my vacation time camping in the mountains, I always figured I would become a professional fisherman or even a hunting guide. How things change as you get out in the real world.

When I was 18 I starting working for a small Hazmat Response company here in Houston. This was the start of my Health & Safety career. Over the next 13 year, I would go on to work in several different industries including Construction, Oil & Gas, Environmental Restoration, and even real estate.

In December of 2011, my contract to work as a Safety Manager at Los Alamos National Laboratory in New Mexico was completed and I decided to return back to Texas. This is when I decided to start Costello Safety Consulting, LLC. I took the leap in March 2012 and filed my paperwork with the state. I didn’t even have any clients yet, but I knew the only reason why I would fail would be due to me not getting out there and finding the work. I have always believed that if you put in the work, the rewards will come in time. Whether it’s money, relationships, or even just a new skill the rewards you earn for your hard work are truly valuable.

Today, Costello Safety Consulting, LLC. is still alive and doing well. We have a large client base and continue to provide our partners (clients) with the highly engaging and effective services. Additionally, we have started a two new community outreach programs, that we hope will help those in need. The first program is our Free Training Program. We will be providing free training courses on a monthly basis in CPR/First Aid & AED, Employee Safety, Fall Protection, etc. The second program is our Small Business Assistance. If your a small business and are in need of some assistance with employee safety, OSHA violations, safety training, etc. you can apply for this program and if chosen, we will provide our services to you free of charge.

Has it been a smooth road?
Balancing time between family and business. Learning to handle all sides of a business from marketing, finances, sales, website design, etc. Dealing with people who want to see you fail. It’s sad I know, but they are out there.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Costello Safety Consulting, LLC. – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.

Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
Overall, I have to say I really love the food scene here in Houston. I’m sure if you can think of a food, you can find it somewhere in Houston. Additionally, I like how we have some true professional athletes. Sure, it can make for some boring games at times, but when was the last time a Houston team had a real egotistical a-hole?

As for dislikes, well I have to say my top three are Traffic, the lack of good public transportation, and trying to find good parking downtown.
