Today we’d like to introduce you to Tyler Garcia.
Hi Tyler, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
At age 16 I started as a helper at a local performance shop, where I learned about building performance cars. I had a foxbody Mustang myself and was very interested in the street racing scene. I spent a couple years there and learned a lot. After high school I continued on to the Ford ASSET program and became a helper at a local Ford dealership. My boss at the time pushed me to pursue diesels, even though I had no interest in that. He told me long term this is where I needed to be. I graduated the ASSET program and stayed at that dealership, becoming a diesel technician in their shop. I spent nearly 20 years at that dealership and eventually became, and still maintain, Ford Senior Master Technician certification.
Throughout the years my wife, Kirsten, would suggest, along with countless customers, that I leave the dealership and open my own shop. I thought about it, but it was daunting and scary and seemed like a huge risk. I had a wife and two kids at this point, a house, cars, and I didn’t want to do anything to jeopardize our future if I failed. The years continued and people were still in my ear all the time about opening my own shop. I had actually scheduled an interview with another company, did the interview and decided it wasn’t the right fit for me. That very same evening a racing buddy of mine posted on Facebook that he had a shop just open up for rent. I immediately sent it to my wife and told her I think this might be the place that gets me to finally do it. We went to see the shop and decided the time was right. We believed God put everything into motion at the right time and decided to follow His lead. Sure enough it was perfect timing. We slowly purchased equipment, lifts, everything we would need to get started, had a grand opening party, and we’ve been here ever since, bumping our way through.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It has been relatively smooth. I believe the fact that I stayed at the dealership for nearly 20 years and had worked up a huge list of clientele has helped tremendously. I have built trust with clients, I am honest and fair, and it was paid off.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I graduated from the Ford ASSET program in college. I became a Ford Senior Master Technician along the way at a Ford dealership. I am certified to diagnose and repair all Ford and Lincoln makes and models. I am known for my knowledge and skill with Ford Powerstroke trucks. I am most proud of becoming of maintaining a Ford Senior Master Technician and of opening my own business. What sets me apart from others is the fact that I am honest and fair. I don’t inflate pricing, I tell customers what other shops are afraid to tell them, and I have incredible experience working with these trucks. I have seen it all and know them like the back of my hand.
What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
Fairness and honesty.
