Today we’d like to introduce you to Valeria Pico.
Hi Valeria, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I actually started about five years ago. At that time, I had my own small jewelry business, and I started taking photos and videos for my own brand. I also had an uncle who had his own business, and I would help him upload photo content and manage some of his social media. That’s when I realized this was something I actually really liked doing.
From there, I started creating my own portfolio, but since I didn’t have any real clients yet, I basically created fake clients and showed what I would do for them—how I would change their strategy, how I would work their feed, what kind of content I would create, and just how I would approach their social media.
I ended up taking that portfolio and pitching myself to a spa in my area, and they gave me a chance. I started managing their account and was able to grow it to around 30,000 followers, and from there, slowly but surely, a lot of doors started opening for me.
At one point, I was working for two different marketing agencies, plus my other job, while also having my own clients on the side. Eventually, I got to a point where I had enough of my own clients that I was able to leave everything else, open my own business, and completely work for myself.
And that’s pretty much how I got to where I am today.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Honestly, there have definitely been some challenges along the way. I feel like when there’s somewhere you really want to get, it’s never going to be a completely smooth road. I think the things that are actually good and worth having are usually the ones that take more time and more work.
One of my biggest struggles was definitely working three social media jobs at the same time. It wasn’t only a lot of work, but it was also a lot of creativity and a lot of brain power to manage so many different accounts at once and constantly come up with new ideas for each one.
But I pushed through it, learned a lot from that time, and eventually I was able to get to where I am today.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
Go Socially is a social media management and content creation agency. We basically help businesses take social media off their plate, from coming up with the strategy and content ideas to filming, editing, captions, posting, and everything in between.
We work with a lot of different businesses, but we’ve definitely become really involved in the real estate industry. We work with master-planned communities, brokerages, Realtors, and other real estate brands, but we also work with businesses in other industries like med spas, fitness, and more.
I think what sets us apart is that we really try to understand every brand we work with instead of creating the same type of content for everyone. I don’t want someone to look at two of our clients and feel like they have the exact same social media strategy. Every business has a different audience, personality, and goal, so we really try to make the content feel like them while still creating things that people actually want to watch.
What I’m most proud of is honestly how much Go Socially has grown. It started with just me doing everything, and now I’ve been able to build a team, work with brands that I genuinely love, and expand what we can offer. We now also have Go Socially Studio, where we offer things like websites, landing pages, custom web apps, and automations.
At the end of the day, I want Go Socially to be a place where a business can come to us with an idea or even not really know what they need yet, and we can help them figure it out, create it, and bring it to life.
Is there anyone you’d like to thank or give credit to?
I definitely wouldn’t be where I am today without the people around me. My husband has probably been my biggest supporter through all of it. He’s been there through every stage of the business, from when I was working multiple jobs at the same time to now running Go Socially full-time. He’s always the person I can bounce ideas off of, and he’s helped me a lot with the business side and now with growing Go Socially Studio as well.
I also have to give a lot of credit to my clients, especially Kore and Vanesa, who were some of the first people to trust me and have continued to work with me for years. A lot of the growth of Go Socially has honestly come from word of mouth and people recommending me to other businesses, and I really don’t take that trust for granted.
And now, my team also plays a huge role in everything we do. As the business has grown, I’ve had to learn that I can’t do everything myself, and having people I can trust to help bring everything together has allowed Go Socially to grow into what it is today.
