Today we’d like to introduce you to Vita Provenzano.
Vita, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
My journey to become a Realtor was a no brainer. Real Estate is basically the family business. Like many other immigrants, my great grandparents bought small properties when they came from Italy. My grandparents even had a store in what is now EADO. Throughout the generations, our real estate holdings have grown exponentially. All of the rental properties are in 5th Ward – this was before 5th Ward was cool btw. My parents manage these properties on their own and I hope to take over that role one day. Until then I will continue to help my clients with all of their real estate needs. In the same year I got my real estate license I also started to belly dance. I bought a Groupon for it and have literally been doing it ever since. I started performing this past year and it has brought me so much joy. I dance in a troupe called Solange. It’s one of the oldest running belly dance troupes in Houston. We rehearse at Sirrom Studio off 6-10 and Stella Link. Typically before a show we rehearsal 7-10 hours a week. So between real estate and belly dancing, I’m pretty busy.
Has it been a smooth road?
One of the biggest challenges about being in real estate is that it’s not a consistent paycheck. You have always to be hustling to stay in the game. You also have to have excellent customer service. I make sure to go out of the way for all my clients whether it’s a $45k investment property or a multi million dollar land deal. The biggest challenge I’ve faced with belly dancing is dealing with injuries. Dancing at 15 and now at 40 are two very different things! Luckily I have a great orthopedic doctor to help me. It’s no fun getting old! LOL
Tell us more about your business.
Over my last seven years as a Realtor, I’ve sold real estate all over Texas, but my specialty is inside the loop. At one point, I was selling so many condos a co-worker used to call me the “Condo Queen’. I actually have two condo/townhouse listings right now, so I guess some things never change.
How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
Technology has been such a game changer in all industries but specifically in real estate. Simple things like having all contracts online and being able to have your client sign them from anywhere in the world have really streamlined the buying/selling experience. You don’t even need scanners anymore – all you do is download an app on your phone and scan client docs straight into pdf docs. I think agents who are not technology savvy are going to have a hard time keeping up.
