Rising Stars: Meet Britney Coetzee of North Houston (Montgomery, TX)

Today we’d like to introduce you to Britney Coetzee.

Hi Britney, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I’ve been teaching Lagree fitness for the past 9 years, and being in the studio environment constantly exposed me to new ideas and products. A few years ago, I mentioned to my studio manager a new grip sock brand I wanted to try and asked if we could carry them. Then it hit me, why not create my own? Around that same time, I made the decision to homeschool my two girls and found myself searching for a creative outlet and a new path. I’ve always been a creative person, and that spark turned into building something of my own. What started as a simple idea in the studio quickly grew into my business, combining my passion for movement, design, and entrepreneurship.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It hasn’t been a smooth road getting here. It took over a year and a half to perfect the material blend I wanted. Materials that delivered both comfort and functionality along with dialing in the grip design. I worked with multiple manufacturers, both overseas and in the U.S., trying to find the right fit. Early on, I made a tough mistake and lost $5,000 going straight to a bulk order. That experience taught me to trust my process, ask more questions, and never cut corners when it comes to quality. Ask for the samples! Every setback pushed me to create the product I truly believe in today.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’m a registered nurse by trade, a mom, and a homeschool teacher to my two girls, all while teaching and practicing Lagree fitness, and running two small businesses from home. Treads was built within the rhythm of my everyday life, fueled by passion, discipline, and creativity. What sets Treads apart is our unique designs, along with the comfort and durability of our material. You can feel the difference the moment you put them on. I’ve been intentional about every detail, from the grip design to the overall performance of the sock. Most importantly, I truly listen to feedback and use it to continuously improve and evolve the brand.

Is there anyone you’d like to thank or give credit to?
Along the way, I’ve faced some “no’s” and even a lack of support from a few fellow instructors, but those moments have been far outweighed by the overwhelming encouragement I’ve received from instructors, clients, and studio owners. The support within this community has truly fueled my growth and kept me going. Deborah, the studio owner of Wicked Core, and Stephanie, the studio owner of Pure Barre Conroe, have been two of my greatest assets. Their knowledge, experience, and genuine belief in me have helped guide me through challenges and push me toward success. Having mentors like them in my corner has been invaluable to both me and the growth of Treads. It’s true when they say surround yourself with the right people!
