Today we’d like to introduce you to Byron Mitchell
Hi Byron, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I was born in Norfolk Virginia raised back and forth between Washington DC. And Virginia. As a child I understood how important a role model was. As I moved around my adult life I always wanted to find ways to give back that would impact the future. I Moved to Houston in August of 2022 and a little over a year later I was offered an opportunity to start coaching. I started with the 10u group boys basketball over at Houston Premier under Coach Wes. The journey has been great and I love being able to give back and pour into our future. It’s fun and I love it.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It’s has been a smooth road for the most part but it has been a few self inflicted obstacles like confidents , maintaining a consistent practice facility that’s convenient for the players. But we just keep pushing and fighting through adversity.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m a jack of a lot trades. My current employer is in the tech industry. Outside of that I tend to pick up and learn new things fast. I once did music now I’m looking to impact the world by paying it forward to the future
Are there any important lessons you’ve learned that you can share with us?
Believe in your self. Stay true to yourself and never give up even when times and things get a little hard just keep pushing.
