Every story of hardship carries within it the seeds of transformation. My own journey, marked by adversity and trauma, began in Houston under the shadow of a turbulent childhood. It’s a testament to the resilience of the human spirit and the transformative power of community support.
Growing up, life dealt me a tough hand. My mother was married to ‘Wild Child,’ a drug dealer whose real name was Charles Campbell. Our home was rife with uncertainty and abuse. When I was eight, Wild Child died in a car accident, leaving my mother and me in a precarious situation, struggling to make ends meet.
In these dark times, Gethsemane United Methodist Church became our sanctuary. The pastor, aware of our struggles, offered us much-needed help with rent and food. But it was more than just financial assistance; it was the gift of community and care. This act of kindness, including a birthday cake and toys for a child in need, profoundly impacted my young mind.
This support was a turning point. Through the pastor’s guidance, my mother fought for and won an SSI case, a victory that allowed us to purchase our first home. It was the beginning of a new chapter filled with hope and stability.
As Pastor David Lee Sincere, Jr., these early experiences shaped my vision and mission. Founding Sincere Consulting and Life Coaching and leading both Fort Bend Transformation Church and Unity Worship Center, I’ve dedicated my life to uplifting communities. My path reflects a deep commitment to paying forward the kindness and support I received.
My efforts have been recognized with several esteemed awards, marking milestones in a journey of service and community empowerment. These include being a 2018 graduate of the FBISD Board Leadership Academy, receiving the Texas Board of Education 2018 Heroes for Children Award (District 7), the 2018 NAACP Missouri City & Vicinity Community Service Award, the 2022 City of Houston District K Community Kudos Award, and the 2022 Fort Bend Chamber of Commerce Community Spirit Award.
These accolades are not just personal achievements; they represent a collective effort and vision for community transformation. My journey, intertwined with the lives of those I’ve had the privilege to serve, underscores the significance of dedicated service and the profound impact it can have on individuals and communities alike.
The path I’ve walked, laden with both challenges and recognition, underscores the power of faith, community, and resilience. My story is a narrative of hope, transformation, and unwavering commitment to the greater good. As we move forward, I remain dedicated to a future where every individual can overcome adversity, thrive, and positively contribute to our community.
