Today we’d like to introduce you to Marnie Yancy.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
When I reflect on the obstacles and hoops, I had to jump through when I bought my first home in 2003, I told myself if I could ever make this process easier for someone, I would. Fast forward to 2018 while working at Fidelity Investments… I observed how my clients made successful real estate investments and this started to inspire and intrigue my interest in the industry.
So, while still at Fidelity, I got my Real Estate license in 2020 and began working at Glass House Realty part-time.
The experience with this firm then and still to this day is gratifying and rewarding, so much so that on July 1, 2022, I decided to take a leap of faith, resigned from Fidelity, and decided to do real estate full-time.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Surprisingly, my career transition from an Investment Consultant to the Real Estate industry has been pretty smooth so far. The real challenging aspect of what I do now is when I provide guidance and give unbiased recommendations to better assist my clients with their buying or selling decisions and for whatever reason, they decide to go in another direction.
Oftentimes, those knee-jerk decisions have resulted in either them losing a bid on a home they were trying to purchase or no takers at all on a property they were trying to sell. At the end of the day, my job is to do my homework, familiarize myself with the market trends, and most importantly ensure my clients are happy and receiving exceptional service with their desired outcomes.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
Currently, I’m a Realtor at Glass House Realty, a boutique real estate brokerage in Pearland, TX. This firm was an ideal choice for me because it is owned and managed by a woman of color—Boydeia (Dee) Glass. Glass House has unmatched knowledge about this competitive market that clients expect, and most importantly we provide unwavering integrity and due diligence to all our buyers and sellers, which is key when families are trying to make the best decisions for their future.
I’d also like to send a huge thank you and a heaping spoon of gratitude to all my clients that have allowed me to assist them in their buying and selling process. Without their need for my service, their referrals, and most importantly their trust, there would be no me. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!
